Why are people so obsessed with this guy here?
He's released one decent mixtape and one solid album. But overall he's not that great. I mean he's a pretty good singer, but there are plenty of really vocally talented R&B singers out right now (dvsn, Miguel, Gallant, shit even Chris Brown is a fantastic singer), so why is Frank Ocean the one who gets all the attention?
Why are people so hyped for this album that no one knows anything about? It's not gonna live up to expectations, it's gonna be another alternative R&B album.
He's literally just Generic "Artsy" "Alternative" "Mysterious" R&B Singer: Gay Edition. There's tons of them this one just happens to be gay, that's the only difference.

He actually is a great pop writer unlike a lot of vocally exceptional singers. between nostalgia and channel orange was a huge leap musically. Songs like lost, pink matter or monks have minimal instruments and top notch production that manages not to date it to the cloud rap of 2012. His lyrics address real concepts but are still surreal and not just forced politics. Im not even a big frank stan but you're smoking rocks if you think he's at the same level as miguel or chris brown.

channel orange was a sincere r&b album. thats stand the rest of time.
rest of those guys just make ear candy r&b that gets old after the 2nd-3rd listen
