I think that people need to fuck off posting her and Grimes. It is fucking annoying and it only dissolves into "I WANT TO FUCK LAUREN XDDD" shit.
Who are the the worst Boris fans: weaboos or metalheads.
>>65067857
>>65067857
Weaboos are far worse than anything.
The generic hipsters that don't realize they're just ok as a weeb band and a metal band. Oddly enough, babymetal has a similar fan situation.
>>65067947
Yeah, but seeing battle jackets at Boris shows is pretty cringe.
The question becomes harder the more you think about it.
>listen to music in airport
>girl comes up to me and asks what i'm listening to
>tell her that i'm listening to New Order
>she asks if i've listened to joy division
>tell her "sort off"
>she kissed me on the cheek
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???
means it never happened
>>65067589
Joy Division contains pussy magnetism.

It seems that I've missed something important.
What's the /mu/ equivalent of Breaking Bad? In other words, what's an album that's highly acclaimed and popular, so therefore hated by /mu/?
To Pimp a Butterfly
anything by the beatles
Greatest album of all time?
Yes or no? Why?
also inb4 Kid A fags
It's a solid 6.5-7.5
Nothig more nothing less. Brainiac did it better on Electro-Shock for President
>>65067379
This and The Lonesome Crowded West (modest mouse) tie for best album of the 90s. Best of all time? Pet Sounds (beach boys) probably takes that spot.
Ok, so I know hes a very good producer, but what else makes him so unanimously liked in here?
also if i wanna get into his discog, where should I start?
Idk the only good song she had was Nothing Compares 2 U
>>65067310
>very good producer
What are the top 10 albums he produced?
His rock albums are fantastic

>Being P4K kiddies that only found out about Future Islands them through Seasons
Hey guys. I'll admit something, I'm pretty new to music. I've only been really engaged in listening to music for around a year and a half and I got into listening to full albums like half of that. The only albums I've gotten really into so far are /mu/ core albums. I'm looking to broaden my horizon and I want to find more obscure releases. What are some things I can use to find albums that I would like? Also if anyone has any recommendations for me that would be great. Right now my five favorite albums are Slint - Spiderland, Talking Heads - Remain In...

This one is an incredible album, but also very easy to enjoy and it might open up some strange post-industrial music to you, since Edward Ka-Spel collaborates with Nurse with Wound. It also rarely gets posted on /mu/ and I've never seen the Pink Dots discusses on here.
RYM charts for genres you enjoy, scouring the ratings of other people on RYM who give those releases high scores but have somewhat unique taste, lists by users you find that way
outside of RYM, you should look up the bands you like on google and try to read professional criticism of them. Allmusic is good, some personal blogs can be great. features on Pitchfork are usually good if they focus on one artist or one album, but their review section is shit. Wikipedia articles can sometimes be useful as you get more and more obscure, but for this level, that will be useless...

Good on you for being honest. Seriously, the sticky at the top of the /mu/ page has great lists of album by genre, found it very helpful. Some recs from a slight newbie as well: for Neutral Milk, try The Glow pt. 2 by the Microphones; for for the Cure, try Deathconsciousness by Have a Nice Life; for Animal Collective, I'd just suggest digging more into their catalogue, especially Sung Tongs and Strawberry Jam. I also love those albums. Hope this helps.
Misleading album covers
>>65067183
Misleading how?
Big Moe is from Houston Texas, where purple drank originated, thus the tittle "City of Syrup".
Barre Baby is the shit.
>>65067859
From the album cover, you'd expect it to be regular horror core or gritty rap that some random black guy handed to you to promote his mixtape.
But instead you get one of the most well mastered hip hop albums ever created, and with smooth production with singing instead of just rapping.
artists you thought played a totally diferent genre than what they actually played before listening to them
>I thought sufi made blues/country
Well some of his stuff is folk so kind of close.
I generally look artists up on RYM or something before listening to them so usually the genres give a close hint. I guess Television maybe, since they're usually described as punk/post punk.
Vampire Weekend too. When I was just hearing about them I thought they were like a scene band or something like Asking Alexandria just from their name.

Everyone is going to have a different answer, so just listen to them chronologically. It's the best way to see how they change and grow as artists.
