Not that there is a lot to choose from as the scene was rather small here but it's by far Zions Abyss. I don't classify them as being in the top tier by any stretch but still a great band for sure. The next runner up would have to be Malignant Growth. A competent Thrash act that put out a pretty interesting demo effort in 1992. They had another demo prior to that but it's not to the same standard and the vocalist sounds like a poor mans Jeff Hatrix with half the talent.

It does though.
Having a decent balance of more atonal ideas and melodic poppy sensibilities is more variety than just having mostly poppy melodic stuff. Having the production change mid album equates to more variety than production that stays the same. The vocals use a higher variety of techniques and effects, too.
Not to mention the simplicity in this music is for the sake of furthering its primitive atmosphere while simplicity in your favorite melodeath bands exist for the sake of being boring and watered down enough for even the dumbest non metal fan to digest.
