Does Iran have a pop music scene, or is that considered harām? I'd love to listen to any Iranian / Persian music /mu/ has got, be it folk, classical, rock, hip-hop, vaporwave, metal, you name it. So if anybody is on /mu/ right now who is in the know, please share some knowledge!

Thank you :)

"do a group of people have music"
Not even Iranian/Persian. I know of one, Nashenas.
>>
iran has a huge growing movement of hip hop right now. most of it is illegal in iran, but people play it anyways. i find that farsi as a language flows extremely well over hip hop beats. check this out:

Hey /mu/

I was thinking about starting a physical collection of all my favorite albums, but I'm not sure whether to go with vinyl or cd?

CD is much cheaper to get, easier to store, and I can already play it with my PC and other devices.

Vinyl looks beautiful to me, they would look much greater as a set piece. They're much more expensive and require me to also buy a turntable. They do however have a much higher resell value, but I wouldn't ever sell them so it doesn't matter.

What do you personally collect?

>>
CD's cause pretty much I can lend them to a friend or play them at their house or something. Of course I secretly would love to start a vinyl collection, mainly due to the sound quality and the album art, but CD's are just way more practical for me as i dont have the space for vinyl, that and its cheaper and most albums I want are only on CD.
>>
in the early 2000's i had roughly 800 cd's and I wanted to start going to vinyl, but the idea of having 800 cd's and 1 vinyl sucked compared to having 801 cd's

They all got stolen :)

It's okay I download music now and it's all free. I wish i had all the money I spent more than the physical media
>>
One of the biggest benefits of CDs for me is the ability to skip to specific songs, so I'd have to go with them.
That being said, I think that old prog rock and concept albums are best on vinyl. Any album that's too loud on CD is almost always better on vinyl too, with good speakers.

now that weve had enough time to meme out about this album can we please have a critical discussion about it. Has anybody noticed any interesting musical textures or lyrical motifs that they feel comfortable sharing with everyone?

the entire thing reminds me strangely of some prehistoric future cyber dinosaur apocalyptic horror movie dimension and it's so fucking bad ass
>>
fucking "it won't lit". it's such a meaningless phrase, and the whole thing on BBPoison about Zach tweeting it and fans freaking out leads me to think that it's actually supposed to be a gibberish phrase that they expect fans to over-interpret.

Also the "foghorn devils" part of TBIAGN is really interesting in the way it paints a picture of mindless obese people force-feeding themselves, it's so dystopian and creepy i love it

Why do people unironically listen to this apple-commercial, faux-indie garbage? Honestly, I'd rather listen to Nickelback than this shit. At least they're not filtering Arcade Fire through some soulless, corporate sheen just to make money.

I have about 5 friends, and 3 of them listen to Imagine Dragons and call them their "favorite rock band." As for the other two, one is a weeb and listens to anime music/brostep/kpop and the other listens exclusively to female vocalists and brags about how some of them don't have wikipedia pages. I really need to have a friend I can talk to about music.
>>
i unironically enjoy Imagine Dragons, they're one of my favourite bands actually. I saw them with my friends , who are not my friends anymore nowadays.Their music reminds me of good times. Try listening to their last album , there are a lot of fillers but Friction is GOAT

I've always wondered why people hate Danse Manatee, even people who are well enough into patricianhood to be able to listen to it without getting a headache seem to despise it. People who heil Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished as a masterpiece, criticize the fuck out of Danse manatee, even though they are around the same level of abrasiveness.

But then it hit me, how many people have you seen who say they hate Danse Manatee, but love "Essplode"? How many people have you seen deny that Feels is the true anco pop masterpiece, because the tracks "drag on" too much? How many people have you seen who's least favorite track on Sung Tongs is Visiting Friends? Animal Collective have developed a fanbase who cannot appreciate slow music. Its not that Danse Manatee is too abrasive, people are just too fucking impatient. It's not a failed experiment, it just takes its fucking time. Asking an anco fan to appreciate this album is like asking a Soccer fan to appreciate Baseball. It's hard to go from "GET BALL TO GOAL" to whatever the fuck those nerds are doing in baseball. I don't actually watch sports.
