What are some albums/compositions focused primarily on pitched percussion?
I made a similar thread yesterday and received some good suggestions, but more can never hurt, right?
I'm familiar with
Steve Reich
John Psathas
Keiko Abe
Phonix Reflexion
Makoto Nakura
I also enjoyed Ensemble Percussione Ricerca's performance of In C
Lou Harrison worked with a lot of different tempered percussion but I'm not knowledgeable enough on him to give suggestions. Going to keep an eye in this thread

I'll check him out, thanks

My album has plenty of chromatic percussion on it such as marimbas and vibes. As well as plenty of actual percussion, and a lot of synthesized instruments, trumpets and saxaphones, pianos, everything...
Track 6 is a short one you might like. Afro Beat influenced. Otherwise youre goonna have to look thru yourself :)
Looking for songs that feature awesome drum solos... or just great drum line.
One of my favorite songs to jam along to is "Time Ed" by moe. off of the live album Warts & All IV. It has a fun beat that changes around a bit so it keeps you busy and then a good solo to play around with.
Otherwise if you just want a crazy solo that you probably won't be able to follow anyway, try and search online for Tool or Danny Carey playing 46 & 2 or Laturalus. Especially live.

Thanks, listening right now.
My kid is doing the "School of Rock" and is super interested in drums, so I thought I'd find some songs with good drums in them for him to listen to/play with.
So this album kicks a whole lot of ass. It's called Zero Comma, iro Toridori no sekai and it's pretty much better than anything that gets posted on this entire board
Why yes, I listen to Japanese music.
Boris, Midori, Fishmans, the list goes on...
EPs were better(at least for me)
It was pretty /mu/core a few years back.

Vomir - Claustration
It's not necessarily abrasive or hard to listen to, it's just really hard to listen to the entire album considering every track sounds the same and every second sounds like the last...it's a fucking long, dull album.
>pop music
>abrasive or inaccessible
Is there any chart / can anyone recommend me some future funk and nu disco albums? I've heard Saint Pepsi and Todd Terje but that's about it.

that's what i'm saying
i listened to this album at least ten times and while i can grasp the pop appeal it's actually pretty bland, pet shop boys and new order still rank higher than depeche for me
ITT: we post actually good albums that /mu/ likes to shit on for no other reason other than pretentiousness.
Pic related faggots.
>>53323425
one too many other*
A lot of /mu/ likes RAM though, I'll see it as their second best quite frequently

Le edgy teenagers
did y'all leave /mu/ forever?
that hat looks like a bell end
>>53326331
I don't think your bell end is supposed to be fuzzy
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, I prefer Big Band/Dixieland/Ragtime/Stride Piano to any kind of Bop. Although Bird is my favorite musician of all time.
ITT: Post an album/movie and get the equivalent to the other category

on what planet?
IIRC, the sensation of being tickled is caused by the brain's inability to predict the movements of the tickler.
With this in mind, when was the last time music tickled your ears and mind? I'm talking about the times that catch you off guard and give you a massive smile.
I just had one; it was caused by Tim Hecker's Radio Spiricom. Holy shit though; it's one of the best feelings that music can cause IMO.
Pic related.
When "Funky Dung" comes in on Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother Suite." The tone of the guitar, the bass, the keys... fuck.
i listen to improvisational noise rock all the time so i have become immune to sound tickles
i am less human than before
OP here. Forgot to mention that on its own, Radio Spiricom is great. I'd say listening to the album in sequential order was what made it so tickling for me.
