As much as I love 2004 Smile, why does it sound like fucking karoke music with vocals? The 1967 Smile has this reverby fuzzy atmosphere to it and everything sounds great.

I just listened to Red and while thematically I believe In the Court of the Crimson King is superior, musically Red is more interesting.

First listen I might accidentally pick up some of the lyircs (I tend to pick them out really easily, not necessarily on purpose), but care more about the overall "feels"/tone of the lyrics.
Second time or if something caught my ear I'll pay attention to them. Almost never look them up, unless I'm really struggling for some reason.
