We know that a female protagonist option was planned for Red and Green, but was cut before release. Because of this, it is highly possibly that the same was true for Gold and Silver, at least during the initial planning phase, which would finally come to fruition in Crystal.
The Advanced Generation anime series replaced Misty with May, the female protagonist from the Ruby and Sapphire games.

That's my theory.
I always assumed she was supposed to be the anime version of Kris. That blue hair with the pigtails and her recurring appearances seemed like a dead giveaway for that.
Also, I think that when they finally decide to retire Ash they will do a movie or big story arc with Ho-Oh. They never did a proper movie or story arc with it, and Ash has seen it several times that inspired him to keep going. Starting his journey after that crazy storm where he and Pikachu got fucked by Spearow, when he decided to go to Hoenn after bombing the Silver Conference, and after he got his ass...

No because GameFreak isn't aware that they have any fans but children. Origins and other OVAs bombed hard, the Japanese fucking love the Ashnime and it's constantly recycling plot because it's SUGOOOOIIII KAWAAAIIIII~~~

I don't have time to run around all day and train my pokemon, and it seems like you'll be able to stay competitive even with a moderate time investment with this simplified game approach they chose.
The mechanics honestly don't sound that horrible. I've tried Ingress and it was ok although it got boring fast, but I'm sure that the pokemon flavor and the fact that you'll be able to do stuff besides interacting with portals/gyms is going to make it much more enjoyable.

Wtf, OP? I love Grumpig. It's so cute, and it's not bad either. Pretty bulky, has Thick Fat, and has some neat status moves like Heal Bell. It's actually a really neat, underappreciated Poke.

Run it with Fire Blast, Dark Pulse, Solar Beam, and Sunny Day. Set nukes nearly everything with few counters.
If I were to buff it, I'd make Solar Power not sap HP. If I were to give it a more grab-n-go ability, it would be Dark Aura, since that seems to fit it. I'd help out Mega Audino in the same way by buffing Healer or giving it Fairy Aura.
What's this thing's problem
Interesting ability, but poor types distribution.
I once played a 3rd gen hack with a Wonderguard Sableye. That was quite fun actually.

No one's arguing that, but it seems weird they'd make one HM obstacle something that can be solved for good, but keep the respawning cracked walls and small trees.

I've been thinking about getting ORAS, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I thought XY was pretty shitty, and I'm wondering if ORAS is any better, specifically with regards to:

AFAIK most of the trainers are the same as in R/S
which I guess means shitty teams if you're used to Emerald
Battle Resort can be quite challenging if you're not ready and the ammount of legendaries make a good investment if you're into that.
This whole "easy rivals/gym/npcs w/e" is whatever to me, no pokémon game main story has been hard so far...
All of those things are just as bad as XY. Don't bother with ORAS.
