But in Gen 6, your OWN Pokemon are level 70 by the Elite Four. With Exp Share existing, they needed to raise the levels.
Well, the player's likely relative level is going to matter more than the Gym Leader's level.
The way some maps dungeons are designed, in certain gyms, the player on a normal run might be likely to be around a certain level by the time they challenge a certain gym.

Does the fucked up balancing of these game actually make your experience playing them any worse?
Its only a problem when you play them at a level which Game Freak never in a million years anticipated.
I think some of the actual glitches in which certain moves and effects don't work as GF intended to would be more of an issue, but then again, most of these manfunctions aren't obvious and were only discovered after thousands of hours of obsessively observant gameplay years and years after the games were out of print anyway.

This question came from a conversation I was having with my friend, where I talked about how I, as a mediocre player who only wants to get through the game, feel like I'm doing math homework instead of going on an adventure in the new games.
I think the old games had different design/artistic goals than the new ones, which is sort of why I get annoyed when I see people calling these games "objectively shit" for their terrible balancing.
What's going on with Pokemon Sage? Any devs around? I heard about this while on /v/ when someone said that it was the Gen 7 starter. What's the deal with it?

I finally won the Gold Inverse Battle Ribbons from all 7 Battle Frontier facilities. It was tough, even using Avalugg and Chansey in my teams. I wonder how the next game's postgame will top the Battle Frontier!

Sorry, I like Mawile, Altaria, and Lopunny. Megas are fine, their distribution is just shit. Plus, it's humorous to think Charizard is now OU and Kangaskhan went from UU to banned.
