I haven't played Pokemon since Gen 3. Should I emulate the DS games, or buy a 3DS to play the newer games + DS games?

As someone who has played the new games, I highly recommend actually getting a 3DS so you can play the old and new games. They added a lot since Gen 3, some great, some not. But it's worth it in my opinion.

XY gave Mega Evolutions to Johto's 4 most popular Pokemon. Scizor as well but Scizor counts towards Kanto's mega total.
In ORAS, they didn't give Johto any Mega Evolutions except Steelix. Steelix counts towards Kanto's total like Scizor...
I don't understand why they gave Sinnoh Mega Lopunny in ORAS but didn't give Johto one for one of it's regular Pokemon...

Dude in XY, Kanto got 6 megas for it's regular Pokemon while Hoenn got 7 megas for regular Pokemon. Scizor explains why Kanto had less regular megas in XY than Hoenn. I'm not talking about starters and Mewtwo.

What do you want from a Pokemon fangame or romhack?
1. Close adherence to the way Gamefreak does things. Without this, it wouldn't feel like a Pokemon game.
2. New ideas Gamefreak hasn't done before or simply wouldn't do. Without this, the hack fails to justify its own existence.
Balancing these two opposing goals is the key to making a good romhack imo

Got it?Using a RNG site and pic related, I've now got a list of gyms and elite four, in order of when you'd find them in-game.
They are;
ice
steel
dark
fighting
rock
bug
electric
normal
E4 (they're all equal)
fairy
psychic
grass
ground
If your favourite type is one of these, create a team that would fit that point of the game, i.e. Ice gym leader gets only two pokes, Psychic and Grass get 6.
Also, create a theme for your gym-leader and gym, as well as what your badge is

Why give pixilate to somehting that's already a fairy ?
It has plenty of fairy type moves already, pixilate is mostly useful to give STAB to pokémon that gain the type.
If anything it should have a dragon equivalent to pixilate.

There's been literally no mention of it from the company and it hasn't shown up in any other media. They'll usually do a promo related to the games or TCG only, and its not been in either.

I'm a time traveller from the beginning of 2016 and what this pic shows are Event Pokemons and a new Floette forme that is yet to be revealed, but Greninja will also have this forme.
Diancie will be revealed officially on 2014, Hoopa and its new forme will be revealed on 2015, and finally, Volcanion will be revealed on late 2015.
The new Vivillon's patterns will be given away in 2014 as a GTS event.
Mega Latias and Mega Latios were meant to be reserved for Hoenn remakes (that's is, Hoenn will be confirmed soon), but Game Freak forgot to remove them from XY.
