Seriously how can people be that stupid. Gen 1 is the meta that's the most unbalanced. If you are playing Gen 1 you should expect to use more or less the same team. Doing otherwise is insanity.

are pretty much the core of your gen1 team.
You can then choose Exeggutor (most pick him) or Gengar(fast sleep)
Then you can then choose between Rhydon or Golem.
And Alakazam, Zapdos, Lapras, Slowbro and maybe Dragonite.
Anything else is insanity in gen1.

Can he ever be fixed? Mega evolution wouldn't help him since it doesn't raise HP, his defenses are already too high to add a lot more too and his attacking stats and speed stat are too low to be salvaged.
Honestly the only way it could possibly work is if they min-max, cut his defenses to about half and turn him into some sort of enraged monster with high attack and speed (but that would completely go against his original design and concept).

Here's two ways you can "fix" him.
First: Give him an actual evolution, gen 4 style. Doesn't have to put much thought into it. Raise his HP by five points. Raise his attacking stats by 10. The important part is that this would qualify Shuckle for Eviolite, making him even harder to kill.
The second: Mega Evolution. Give Mega Shuckle an equivalent of Desolate Land for Trick Room. Turn one: Power Trick. Turn two: Mega Evolve. As the slowest pokemon, you are now god-king shitwrecker of the universe. Up until someone goes and uses a priority move anyway.
Design wise, what do you want to see for gen VII starters?

We finally got a non-reptile for grass starter last gen with Chespin but I don't think people liked him too much.
I indifferent to zodiac fags but I wouldnt mind a Fire/Rock calf that becomes a bull and then evolves into a Minotaur with stone horns.
Grass/Flying peacock or bird of paradise.
Water/Fighting squid. Either with boxing glove tentacles or pirate themed.

Elephant goes Electric, Rattlesnake goes Poison, and Komodo Dragon goes Dragon. They're both things I want and things that satisfy any patterns (assuming GF complies with the perceived patterns for another gen).

No. I'm not a fan of fighting games.
It kind of sucks though, this is the first pokemon spinoff that isn't "magical animal tea party" or "pay to win freemium puzzle game" since I can't remember. So I KIND of want to support it. I'm sure it will do okay either way.
Why do people desperately want the next generation to add so many new Pokemon? We've got so many at this point that some of the new ones are bound to be either carbon copies of the older ones or have retarded inspirations/concepts. And by making mega evolutions for older Pokemon, they can make them seem fresh when you pick them again. As long as there is at least 50 new Pokemon and there's huge diversity in what kinds of Pokemon you can catch, I'd be perfectly fine with it.
I'd much rather have Game Freak spend a little less time on designing Pokemon and more time on improving other aspects of the game.
