What if in sun and moon there are no starter Pokemon, and instead you use the 3ds' camera to take a picture of your pet (or most accessible animal if you don't have pets), which is analyzed and translated into a Pokemon?
There'll be a lot of goldeens and growlithes, that's for sure.
Ps - all Pokemon scanned come out as first-stagers, so going to the zoo wouldn't help you out much.

I dont really know what you're talking about, it generally bulks things pretty well.
It's biggest issue is that it's weak to a couple common types. But types it resists, or even is neutral to, it can tank well. It's durable despite it's offensive role.

Why do they do this? It's not like ice-types are incredibly powerful and would steam-roll everything early on in the game.
Most places that have a cold climate are hard to access and/or far away from civilisation, such as mountain peaks, caves, and tundras.
Pokemon games always start you off in "Mario area 1-1" style areas, very gentle sub-rural villages, which then branch off to more extreme enviroments. It would be strange if after 2 routes you encounter a snow-cloaked forestunless they fucking bring back seasons goddamnit

Well first of all: i will buy the game and im happy that they announced anything but i cant help but feel underwhelmed as of now

They are both genderless, but essentially every single creation myth has a skyfather and an earth mother deity, so definitely Groudon and possibly Kyogre
Groudon. Mother Earth, Japan's sun deity is a girl, etc.
Most of the "primary" version legendaries seem to lean towards being the girl of the duo in some way.
Ho-Oh is based on a mythical bird characterized as feminine to go with the masculine dragon(Lugia?).
Reshiram is officially the girl to Zekrom's guy as part of a flipped yin/yang dynamic.
Xerneas has a female VA. Also Fairy type, though some claim Xerneas is the exception.
