Let's assume that the 1% completed is 3 Pokemon already seen. That would obviously mean that there is a total of 300 Pokemon overall. However, three slots remain to be unlocked.
There are 4 total islands in this region. One of which is called Melemele. We know this because the first slot translates to Alola, which just sums up every Pokemon on each island.
So if there is 300 Pokemon over all, which includes old ones, we're looking at 75 Pokemon per island ( 300 / 4 islands ) But how many NEW Pokemon are we getting exactly?
We can't decide that with the tiny amount of information we have. Even if we assume the older gen mons we have seen in the trailers are in the Dex there are still about 285-290 free spots, all of which could be technically new Pokémon.

If we assume that 1% is rounded, that means that the true value ranges from 0.5-1.4%, which gives us a possible range of 214-600 Pokemon.
There is also no way to predict how many of those are new. Each Island Dex is likely to be a mixture of new and old.

That's impossible to tell, no matter whether you're a mathfag or not. We could have the starters, evos, and the few other pokemon we've seen and that's it. We won't know how many until we're told, or the games come out.
