Get Super Mystery Dungeon, it's one of the more challenging Pokemon games and requires you to stay on your feet most of the time.

SMD is only challenging if you're an inventory hoarder. They give you wands, which are single-target, long-range status items which can trivialize bosses by putting them to sleep. Oran berries gjve you +10 max HP for the duration of the dungeon. Reviver seeds are everywhere. It's good, but not that challenging.

Forgot to mension I'm currently playing HG, and with no access to gen 6 games. I plan on buying them eventually, but that wont be happening for a while. I just want it to be good for the game, mostly the battle frontier and post game places

How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:
>complete all Trainer Challenges (Cheat Engine's speedhack strongly recommended to speed up AI games)
>play through using Basic decks to unlock them for versus play
>farm Versus Mode theme ladder for Tokens and Tournament Tickets
>Enter Theme format tournaments whenever possible
>enter Standard/Expanded ticket tournaments and accept that you'll lose

Nothing, the blue pentagon is just a region-checker, showing what gen it was caught, hatched or received in. Older pokemon caught in previous gens will not have that mark, even if they are legitimate pokemon.

The only "challenging" ones were RBY and GSC and mostly by extension because of how shit your Pokemon were, not because there was any legitimate challenge you could plan around and used strategy to beat
