Not all of these apply to you but most of them should. Now I know there are a ton of other reasons but they honestly sound like nitpicks most of the time.
Most people who took a long break or started pokemon with Gen V tend to enjoy it for what it is. While most people who kept up with pokemon and started Gen V when it came out got turned off from it.
