I wouldn't mind seeing 9 Pokemon, but 3 are always on standby, they're just easier to pull/switch out outside of battle without having to go back to a PC, but it would require trainers to adjust to always having a healthy pokemon on your team just in case.
I'd prefer to see a cycling of 8 moves, where you can switch between 2 sets of 4 once during a battle or something.
Fuck no.
It'll really just cause more issues than it's worth. 6 is a pretty perfect number especially since there are more dual type pokemon now that can learn more moves if that bothers/hinders you so much.
I just want dedicated slots for HM slaves

I understand they serve to fuel thesorry excuse for aplot and also serve as a generation's mascots.
However I feel like this would be more gracefully achieved by just having the route 1 mons be more carefully chosen/designed.

If the Route 1 mons weren't all just generic shitmons and Pidgey clones, you'd be more inclined to keep it in your party through the whole game. BW2 allowed you to catch decent Pokemon like Riolu and Magnemite fairly early.
