Not really. Electric also has shitty resistances (flying, electric and steel? Trashy stuff.) and ground is a very common attacking type. It's pretty good where it is.

Gen 2 is the only gen to truly advance the formula, and has essentially become the only standout in the series in terms of being unique besides gen 5. Gen 5 would be top of the list but the new Pokemon were ass and some of the gameplay gimmicks were shit. Overall, I've enjoyed every generation thoroughly, but 6 is the closest I've come to not even completing a game due to lack of enjoyment. That kid friendly shit does not belong in my idealic Pokemon world.
