In PU, it's not a bad for setting up peebles. It also can spread status via thunder wave and has a slow volt switch. It's worth a shot.

It's an inferior type, defensive, offensive wise Magnezone and Magneton.
However it can rely on Taunt, which can outspeed both Ferrothorn and Skarmory and prevent any hazard or attempt tp phaze ot out. Try HP Fire, Taunt, Thunderbolt or Discharge and a filler between Power Gem and Earthpower or Stealth Rocks. Charge Beam is okay too if ot can learn it. Make it Timid max Speed.
Seriously, it's very mediocre if not plai terrible, but better than Bastiodon.

So pokemon games are deliberately imbalanced, this is fact. Some pokemon are made to be stronger simply because from a narrative standpoint it's empowering to catch "the only one" in the region. Often, the availability of a pokemon directly translates to their usefulness.
Everything about this system works in single player or local multiplayer, because it is a direct link between the effort put in to the impact given out.
the following things are what ruin this system
>players that buy two systems and two versions and trade to themselves
>online multiplayer
Red and Blue were made for and work in a playground setting where neither player cheats the system and their skill at the game is what makes the matches.
Buying two systems and trading to yourself makes it far easier to get trade evolutions like gengar and alakazam, which were some of the strongest things in gen 1. Normally, to obtain these for yourself you either need a really good friend who's willing to give you one/trade it back, or a huge sucker to trade away their haunter/kadabra. Pokemon required social links to get to the power level expected in a modern tournament setting.
Online multiplayer only made this worse because it made anti-social trade even easier, since you didn't even need to know the other person. More importantly though, the increased scale of the metagame ultimately highlighted the imbalance of the game without any visible reason.
With both of those in place and simply how easy it is in the modern day to hack in normally very difficult to obtain pokemon, there's simply a number of important mechanics that simply lack a purpose in the mainstream metagame

>anything that's below UU tier
>every middle evolution in existence
the saving grace of the meta is smogon's tier listings and pokemon showdown, because otherwise the metagame would consist of bringing your hacked shiny arceus down to jubilife and fighting all of the others.
That said, how would you bring back the effort = reward balance?

I think a lot of us do, and that's why many of us are so critical of it. I never stopped but BW2 and AS both struck me as boring... took me a year to repickup my AS and I simply never finished B2.

I only care a bit, just so that I can be happy when they finally release something good.
I stopped at BW2, since i couldn't be assed to get a 3DS and pick up Gen VI.
About 2013ish after beating XY.
There's nothing really making me want to keep playing. XY had nothing for endgame after I beat it, ORAS was a remake. I just plain don't have anything to care for. The next one is gonna be Gen 6.5 and unless it's a sequel like BW2, it's not gonna be interesting enough for me to finally care until Gen 7.

This is you. You cannot base a type match-up over something that menial.
Things Pokémon games need to stop doing:

No reason to do this. It crowds party slots and movesets. Just give the player items that do these things.
>Night/day cycle puzzles/gameplay elements that aren't visual effects
It's not fun or challenging. Pokémon appearing at night vs. day is fine, but other than that, keep it visual.

90% of the time they are either trivially easy or literally impossible to do anything but perfectly solve--either make them challenging or just remove them so there isn't tedious bullshit before gym leaders.

Every Pokémon adventure doesn't have to be to save the world. This would give them a chance to actually write some interesting characters.

Most of these had fantastic designs and gave usefulness to Pokemon who seriously needed it, and Gallade and Froslass were good alternate evolutions very distinct from their counterparts.
There are still so many Pokemon who need a new evolution to be useful.
Eviolite compatibility, then Megas.
Nothing that didn't work with Eviolite before will now. Nothing that has a Mega will ever evolve now because they're considered to be in their final form.

Gen 5 gave us nothing.

In an alternate reality, X and Y came out as usual in 2013. However, they had a few crucial changes

Not as retarded but pretty damn retarded nevertheless. I thought buffs like Growth stay with your Pokemon even between battles because even as a kid I could see how fucking useless they would been otherwise. So I would spend like a hour grinding but my first move always being a buff. So while my Pokemon was getting more powerful by leveling up I was thinking the buff was actually helping.
