Replayability is completely subjective. FRLG might take that, though, simply for the updated classic experience it delivers.

Antagonist organization simply wants to preserve their region's culture from outsiders and actually intelligently uses the strength of bonding with all types of Pokemon to maintain their control over it.
Surprisingly, my brother who knows much more about what makes good games or writing thinks this is actually really good. I personally think it's decent and mildly interesting at best.
If I were making a Pokemon game I'd just make it open world and let it just be filled with side quest-esque missions with recurring characters.
But if I had to throw a story into it, there's tons of stuff to choose from. Example 1: Distortion has started popping up in the world, and there are portals to it in random places. The MCs would inevitably go through them, explore the distortion world while going out other exits into random parts of the world, potentially even in different times (since time doesn't technically flow in the distortion world).
I've been inspired to write tons of fan fics (never had the motivation to actually get working on them), so I could write up these all night. Will do if others are interested.

I went past a Build A Bear while shopping for a new coat and I couldn't see Pikachus through the window, just shitloads of Star Wars stuff.
Pikachu is not one of the pokemon I buy stuff of though because I just don't rate it very high on my list. You did remind me I should get a Pokemon Time Raichu, though.

Now i'm not saying a sinnoh remake is happening, but does anybody look back at the gen 4 games and get a massive boner from mt cornet? I just fucking love the design so much that i want to see it rebuilt in the 3ds engine.
I never really appreciated it until i replayed diamond recently on my phone emulator. It connects the region so well and so cohesively. It's a giant ominous looming presence and serves as the final story confrontation with the legendary pokemon.
With multiple entrances, you end up traveling through it several times over the course of your journey. The intricate maze truly makes you feel claustrophobic as you try to navigate its insides and scale its outsides.
On top of that, the music and the ambiance truly sets the mood for a grand climax and the calm before the storm. Though the ds had a weird sound chip, it added a unique jazz-fusion charm to the soundtrack.
Everything about the build up to the finale at spear pillar is absolutely breathtaking. It summarizes your experience throughout the game and pays off in a climactic way. And don't even get me started on distortion world or the azure flute.
I really hope there's a soul out there that understands my raging nostalgia boner for this fantastic design.
