Langley was always presented as the more mature of the two, and her outbursts were always treated as her being right despite not being all that polite about it. She was pretty good at getting across just how much of a childish hypocite Iris was.

The princess of a kingdom in Hoenn needed help from a Togepi trainer and chose to invite her of all people due to plot conveniences. She took the opportunity to meet up with Ash and invited him along since he was in th area anyway.

Well, that's exactly what happened. Also surprising how early into AG that Misty returned. Her cameo was AG44....she returned before the first year of Hoenn even finished airing.

Back in 2012 I did a marathon of every episode of the anime up to that point. I think it only took me 5 months, because I watched at least 4 episodes a day.
Although as a kid/teen I rewatched Kanto/Orange and late Johto/Hoenn all the time, simply because I used to rewatch reruns on TV whenever they aired.

It was a pretty solid 2-parter. Also getting to see Misty's Togepi actually do something and evolve after sitting in her arms for 200 episodes was rewarding itself.
Its also pretty much the last time Misty ever actually does anything, since after this all she gets is a Pallet Town visit where she's officially Tracey 2.0.

Its the same with Johto. Johto as a whole is rather lackluster, but there are some individual fillers and other eps in Johto that are excellent episodes. As well as funny episodes.
All the Team Rocket fillers in Johto were pure gold. TR was oddly at their funniest in the Johto saga.

Johto gets too much hate.The only thing it really suffers from is spending 150 episodes on the 8 gyms with no real subplot or anything else really going on between them, but that was mostly an issue with the source material. There's nothing particularly WRONG with the episodes themselves, the writing or the characters and the "gyms and random filler events between gyms" pacing isn't really much different from the Orange Islands arc.I also think a lot of the hate comes from dub viewers who had no idea what to expect from an episode before it started, and thus were always disappointed hen it didn't start with the arrival in the next Gym city THIS time either. Japan got shit presented better and there was usually some hype shit coming up to look forward to.

Ash's Johto Pokemon also get too little or poor development. Only Bayleef evolves (why Cyndaquil didn't evolve in Johto is beyond me), Heracross is Oak'd too early and doesn't even get a Gym, Phanpy comes way too late...Totodile is just a gag.
Also Johto has no fully evolved starter like Charizard, Sceptile, Infernape, Greninja, etc....so it looked like Ash just had a lackluster team that did nothing.
Then there's Misty...who is literally just there and wound up having one of the worst runs for a female companion in the entire series. I also don't get why the writers removed Misty's temper and outbursts, they were the one thing that kept Misty interesting.

Yeah, but that was all par for course. Pokemon development was really shit all throughout OS, and at least his Johto mons actually had individual, if not particularly complex, personalities. Charizard was on his team or a long time, but it rarely ever DID anything due to being inobedient for most of its active time on the team. Misty rarely did shit prior to Johto either.
Most of the things people shit on Johto for are really flaws with OS as a whole, not specifically Johto.

But that was the problem. OS had flaws all around but Kanto was only 83 episodes and Orange Islands only 35 episodes.
Kanto and Orange was so short and condensed that their flaws could be overlooked because the entire quest/story was over with in so little time. Johto was the first region to be stretched out over 3 years and 150 episodes...and even with 3 years they still managed to screw it up.

Not every moment of BW is shit, so it's not like one can expect zero discussion of it. There are some good episodes in BW; the problem is with the bigger picture things like character treatment, story/plot, the league, and the way that the rivals' character arcs ended.
