What sort of new environment are you interested in seeing in the new region?
Personally I feel like there hasn't ever been a proper jungle if any so I'm hoping since it's a tropical region we will get a proper one this time around.

I made him work in Emerald. He evolves early so ends up carrying early game for a bit. After Brawly he kinda took the backseat and became my Rock Smasher. Then I defeated Winona and he learned Crunch and Take Down. Shortly after I taught him Shadow Ball after climbing Mt. Pyre. He was major help against Liz and Tate and could decimate Phoebe alone.Still rather weak in stats but still a major bro.

Get ORAS if you want to catch legendaries and have all of the new mega stones. Get XY if you want character customization, and the new pokemon introduced that gen.
Personally between the two I think XY is more fun to play. There are more pokemon to play with in the main story and the region is much more interesting and fun to look at, imo.
Based on that, I'd say get XY if you like to play around for fun, and get ORAS if you're looking to get into competitive asap, as it has the best tools available for competitive, like the dexnav and move tutor. Yet this will all be outdated when S/M rolls around in november anyways.
Look at this overdesigned garbage. I remember when animals looked good in gen 1.

Ground is bad against Flying, Bug, and Grass. which just so happens to be types that's also strong against grass. So if you want to get anywhere, you need Rock coverage (although pretty much all ground types get those, so it's usually good).

Dexnav kind of blew up my first OR playthrough by giving me a Boomburst Tailow in the third route
You are tasked with erasing one generation of Pokemon games II-VI from existence.
