Why the praise?
Not even joking, the moving 2D battle sprites are an assault on my eyes, the soundtrack sucks, the pokemon designs are garbage and the story (which is always praised) really seems par the course if not even more cringy than any other pokemon game. So really what am I missing? B/W is the only entry I never bothered finishing, but I'm thinking of picking one of them up again so I can play through all the games before sun and moon.

So real world animals vary slightly within their species. Take a black cat, one might be more blue - black, while the other is dark brown. Plus some have different markings. How would you feel if Pokemon varied slightly? Such as two charizards, with slightly different markings and tones, one more yellowy orange, and one more red. It'd make each mon feel unique and wouldnt require too much effort just being a slight colour adjust.

How powerful are Pokemon really? If frogadier can move 2,000feet in a minute and it only has 98 base speed, then how fast can something with 130 base go?

That being said, most legendaries are above mach 100, thanks to all the roaming legends.
