If it wasn't sex, you wouldn't need to put two pokemon of the opposite gender in the same place, nor the species be somewhat compatible for it too work.
They even throw in genetics (IVs) into the mix.
It's clear they fuck like any animal, but considering some kids aren't educated about birds and bees until they are around 12, it would be bad for the company to say they have sex outright.

Considering Fairy got in for no reason at all, I'd say Sound has a fair chance of getting in fully itself. It has consistent thematic designs, a load of Pokemon and moves that could be converted to said typing, and already partially exists, with an ability to make one immune to it.
If(when) it gets in, what do you suppose the match-ups will be? I guarantee that water will be weak to it, if not completely immune/resistant, which would definitely help balance out the type chart some.

Never played any of these games apart from a few minutes of the first, and one of the demos for the 3DS. The battling and the dungeon crawling seemed really boring to me.
