It's so damn frustrating that the trailer still hasn't confirmed with all certainty whether this is Gen 7 or Gen 6.5. I expected the agony to finally fucking end, but they remain ambiguous.
Seriously, why are they being ambiguous about it? They DO know that we are wondering about this, so why don't they confirm it's Gen 7 one and for all if it really is?

This is just like generation 5. Very similar to the last on the same console but with a good amount of changes.
Do you think the starters look bad because they don't follow the color patterns we are used to? Like Grass starters are predominately green and Rowlet is brown. Litten is black instead of orange. Popplio is pretty close but hes still not light blue. Do you think this is the reason they have no chemistry together?
is rowlet actually brown? i have slight colour blindness so i thought it was a pale green
on topic: i don't think they look bad at all (apart from maybe the sea lion). personally i couldn't care for patterns like that, and so long as they maintain the FWG starter thing i like seeing some differentiation
Whoa didn't know all the other water starters were a lighter blue.
The starters looked weird at first glance, but I got used to them quickly. I think what sets these starters apart from the rest is that they're smaller than the previous ones. Popplio looks oddly skinny and Litten is quite dark.

It's nice seeing something refreshing. Gen 6 did that well to but gen 7 is si just taking it beyond that which is awesome in my opinion.

Not necessarily. I got tired of the XY starters after a few playthroughs and got rid of them instantly via Wondertrade.
SuMo starters look based though, so I doubt I could get tired of them.

I wasn't sure what to think of these starters at first but they've grown on me really quickly. Even Popplio. I mean how could you look at this thing and think it's irredeemably shit? I really like the middle ground between Gen 1 plainness and Gen 4/5 over design they've got. Gen 6 was a step in the right direction and I think they've finally hit a good point with how much detail vs simplicity to go with. And the designs seem a bit meh at first but seeing the models in motion gives them so much character, it's a reminder that there's more to a good design than forcing every detail you can into a 2d image, since they're properly animated now you get a feel for their personalities from how they move and act, so gone are the days of a Pokemon's design driving home the point it's a clown or a hooker or whatever, they can emote better through animation and hopefully look less overdesigned because of it. The legendaries aren't bad either, I prefer Solgaleo but Lunaala is growing on me pretty damn fast too.

Fell in love with Rowlet and Popplio instantly.
We'll have to see with the final evolutions but I think we have a 3rd gen where all the starters are (at the very least) good.
Everyone said when the Gen 5 starters were revealed that they were going back to simplicity. Tepig was all round shapes and easy as fuck to draw, snivy was only like 3 colors and not intricate at all. That changed when the evolutions were revealed.
And then that same kind of thing happened with Gen 6.
It's as if judging a generation's design choices on the base forms of its starters is jumping the gun or something.

I would be so down for this. An old, abandoned Safari Zone franchise serving as Sun/Moon's Unknown Dungeon, where the Pokemon are high-level and feral in between the ruins of the old facilities. You don't want it to be too heavy-handed though so the only dinosaur Pokemon would be at the very end
now i'll be disappointed when it doesn't happen :^(
