Frugalfag here. What are cheap and easy ways to buy books without shopping online?
>>7714065
A used bookstore you mongloid. Chances are a local library near you will occasionally sell off books for pretty cheap as well.
>>7714065
Libraries sometimes have book purging where they sell off a lot of books at once. The library near me basically charges 10 bucks for however many I can carry away in one trip.
You can also dedicate a lot of your weekend every month or so scrounging the goodwill. They usually have a large selection of 99 precent crap but once and a while you'll find something good.
Both of those options don't let you choose what you want though.

>>7714035

ITT: Philosophers that really make you think
>>7713900
His entire philosophy is literally "lol i only know what is good for me, you figure out what is good for you faggot"
Nietzsche is one of the few men who actually demands that his readers think. It's sad that most of them don't seem to pick up on that.
>>7713900
Ben Stiller doesn't really count as a philosopher.
>>7713946
what are you talking about
How many of you cried at the end?
>>7713820
I wanked in the end.
I was more than willing to let go at the end, for I realized that I had wasted my time.
>>7713840
Why do you say that?
Anyone read this?
I started reading it in the library, but then I realised I forgot my library card. I really like the concept of the book, and the writing style seems pretty nice too. Is it worth sinking some time into?
I'm assuming you saw the movie?
>>7713544
nope, i like to read books unspoiled.
>>7713509
It's a pretty somber work, especially compared to the movie. Watch it after you read the book. The really impressive thing is that it was written by a woman in her 80s
How much of being a good writer is just pic. Did Nabakov write a lot of crap before he got good?
Na. Nabby was pretty much GOAT from when he was young.
Keep trying tho, senpai. Or dont.
>>7713162
a lot. seriously. practice every day, i cant stress that enough.
Reading a ton of books definitely helps. then knowing what is good writing and what isn't just comes naturally
I don't consider myself to be a beginner, but I've heard it's quite challenging. Do you have any suggestions on how to read it?
it's a pretty easy read. don't get too hung up on the similar names
>>7712813

I like highbrow critique if low brow fodder. Any a.nons heard of/read this? Scholarly format discussion of death metal and horror..among other things...

So did anybody care about this before that Radiolab episode or what?
I tried Radiolab but the slapstick horseshit between the hosts made me want yo Panzeram everybody. (Look it up). Yeah, we live in a meme culture. Not a deep observation IMO. I learned aboutbit from some other meme, but pretty sure it wasn't RadioFuckinLab and their NPR ass monkeyshines.

Yeah, I wish they would just stop with the fucking OCD effects constantly and switching through fifty different voices to say one goddamn sentence. I do still listen to them sometimes, the stories can be fun, but fuck I wish they would calm down sometimes. I have the same problem with a lot of modern podcasts, they all fucking do it: 99% Invisible, Serial, TAL. Fucking ridiculous.
Anyways, yeah. This book looks kind of gay but who knows, I haven't read it.
What's your path, /lit/?
Mine is Übermensch path.
be sad a lot
usually jerk off for a bit and then regret it afterwards
I usually just re-read Candide.

Is hard AI really impossible?
dunno but there's a lot of promising work being done on neural networking that surpasses human cognition so it doesn't really matter.
>>7713696
