I have a book of fantasy that was curated by Borges and it's pretty good. I never thought I'd like fantasy either.

What book?
>>7705844
it's just called the book of fantasy. my copy has a cover about as bad as they come.
Am I supposed to sympathize with the mother characters, or be disgusted by them?

try Typical American by Gish Jen
So /lit/terers, What are some good quotes on jealously that aren't just "it's bad, m'kay?"
Jealousy is a natural human reaction and can be a great motivator.
How do I argue against when someone states "anon you are wrong because X is the fact or X is the truth"
I want to state that truth is relative; there are no true facts but I do not know how to back up that claim. On the side note, are their any philosophical works that discuss or masturbate with the idea that everything we do is just a fantasy, imaginary and that truth is an obscure entity that does not really exist?
Skepticism.
Any book recommendations for someone who isn't an avid reader/a fucking dumb ass who has barely been immersed in literature??
I'm really obsessive about time so I lose patience and give up. Rare for me to find books that can keep my attention. Particularly looking for books that are similar to Cows by Matthew stokoe.
Don't sweat it. The future is nemes and emojis.

If you're obsessed with not spending too much time on a book, I'd recommend John Hawkes (not the actor) because none of his books are over 300 pages as far as I can tell.
Sticky has a list of easy to digest/ literature that keeps the interests of illiterates. Hemingway is good, Vonnegut as well. Maybe some Murakami or Twain.
Post sweet covers
The Divine Comedy textile cover is perfect, holy shit. I love touching it

Thats not how you judge a book anon
You're an idiot
with nice covers come bad translations.
What's the earliest memory you have of reading? What was the first book you ever read?
Reading the first harry potter book in 2nd grade and feeling like a cool big kid
started off with non fiction with a lot of pictures. I liked history/war and dinosaur books. this was around 1996 when I was 5
A collection of children's poems in my native language. I was around five years old, my grandmother used to take care of me every afternoon and read with me.
10/10 history book thread
Hey /lit/, what's your favourite Timmy Pinecone novel?
>>7714488
you will probably find better answers in r/books with you stoopid kid author.
>>7714488
Doesn't this printing have a shitton of errors in it? Why do people keep posting this cover?
>>7714488
pynchon was a meme author, and had no discernible talent. He was shitposting, and is literally genre tier fiction. clearly a juvenile author
did american psycho pollute my young and impressionable mind and turn me intoa wanna be sadist?

I have no idea
>>7714285
Idk but it has some of the funniest dialogue ever
Did I check out the correct translation, /lit/? Or should I return it to the library?
>FAGles
>>7714260
Should I take this as a "no," or are you just shitposting?
>>7714267

Name a better Sci fi book
Protip: you cannot.
Have you read animorphs

Ye those r sick
I liked Vurt alot.
Generation P by Victor Pevin is similar. It mixes scifi with psychedelic experiences and critiques of post Soviet Russian culture.
Has there ever been a scene more cringe inducing than Kvothe's run in with the sex goddess of fairy land?

It's one of the most pathetic exercises in authorial masturbation in recent literary history. I could not separate the image of Rothfuss in powder and wig (and mole) from my reading of the book.
But there are, Game of Thrones and REH have scenes that might rival it in trashiness.
my best friend bought me these books because she really really wanted me to read them.
terrible repetitive prose, blatant self-insertion, completely bland and shit characters.
hesitant to write this just in case i'm shot, but it's always really disheartening to read a fantasy book written as wish fulfillment by some dork with a literal neckbeard that has no interesting or complex female characters whatsoever. its like he just dreamed up some girl he wanted to fuck and threw a few "good" traits in to make her appear anything less that a two dimensional...

> “My sweet little whorish Nora I did as you told me, you dirty little girl, and pulled myself off twice when I read your letter. I am delighted to see that you do like being fucked arseways. Yes, now I can remember that night when I fucked you for so long backwards. It was the dirtiest fucking I ever gave you, darling. My prick was stuck in you for hours, fucking in and out under your upturned rump. I felt your fat sweaty buttocks under my belly and saw your flushed face and mad eyes. At every fuck I gave you your shameless tongue came bursting out...

> You say when I go back you will suck me off and you want me to lick your cunt, you little depraved blackguard. I hope you will surprise me some time when I am asleep dressed, steal over to me with a whore’s glow in your slumberous eyes, gently undo button after button in the fly of my trousers and gently take out your lover’s fat mickey, lap it up in your moist mouth and suck away at it till it gets fatter and stiffer and comes off in your mouth. Sometimes too I shall surprise you asleep, lift up your skirts and open your drawers gently, then lie...

How am I going to eventually enjoy this part of the meme trilogy if I can't get these passages out of my head?
is there any evidence that he was into this apart from his letters? Honestly if not Joyce could just be memeing posterity
