Is there any book or writer that you avoid, even though you are interested, because you don't want their despair or otherwise negative attitude to rub off on you, or maybe because there are certain depressing things you have an inkling of but don't particularly want to be made aware of in detail?
>>7657550
No, but if there ever was one that someone would feel that way about, it would be The Tunnel.

fuck off, frog shit
Plant and pot,
a page with a blot.
Stick and stone,
chair to rest and some old bone.
Shoe to walk,
a flower's stalk.
Clay in May,
and leaves of the Bay.
Table for food,
anything stewed.
What is it?
I don't have the answer but it would be interesting to see what you come up with.
It's OP who is a faggot.
How clever and original of you HA!
You got me.
What does /lit/ think of this man?

A leathery chair groaned as a man sat down. A soft cacophony of conversation and the clearing of throats reverberated through the airport gate. The man looked up towards the sign above the jet bridge. "Gate DX." The jet bridge extended out into the open like a pier in a sea of asphalt. Planes were landing and taking off without hesitation and moving at an unsettling pace. As the commotion settled into his senses the mans inner ramblings were interrupted by the pinging of speakers located in the roof. "Flight 1-1 has arrived and will be boarding...

Airport stories were passé thirty years ago. I think even an illiterate native that had never seen an airplane in their life would be bored.

tedium, cliches, and shit imagery.
i'm wondering if anyone knows the word/technique this is. i'm sure i saw a video/essay on it to do with pynchon
basically it is just adding different unctuation marks to give the same sentance a different meaning. (sort of)
it's kind of difficult to come up with examples bc i'm shit at lit.
cheeky? you are not giving me a lift to work!
cheeky you are! not giving me a lift... To work?

What are the best/essential Everyman's Library editions?
Is the translation for Don Quixote used in their edition very good?
>inb4 no translation meme

I like the 2 volume set of Tolstoy's short fiction.
Best collection of all his shorter fisction, good translation.
>good and bad can be defined and have value as terms
>things have to be defined to have value or meaning
>value and memeing has value and meaning

You will select 5 novels from the appropriate period which you are willing to discuss with the examiner.
Which one would you choose?
>>7656354
Joyce, Kipling, Woolf, DH Lawrence, Orwell
I'd call the examiner a pleb for including so many women and bid him (likely her) good day as there is obviously nothing they can teach me
Have any of you guys had a book, article, or anything published?
How did you do it? Any tips?
I wrote a book and I want to get it published but nobody wants to be my agent, which is to be expected I guess. How's self-publishing? People keep mentioning it to me.
I've had about half a dozen short stories published in zines but that's really very different to novels. You can go down the self-publishing route and there'll be plenty of Anons along shortly who can tell you how they did that, but if you're prepared to put in a little more work to get it done properly, I recommend getting yourself a copy of the Writer's & Artists Yearbook 2016, an annual publication written for people in your situation which has all the resources you'll need on the who to write to and how to address them. I think this is the...

Then I guess it has something in common with your autobiography.
>>7655784
Then I guess OP has something in common with your faggotry.
Why is this allowed?
There's nothing much wrong here.
If you're talking about cover art, the re-release on discworld books are worse. Theres no wrap around. Here's a bad image comparison I made in paint.
Sorry your thread is probably dead on arrival OP, if you're still bothering to check.
cropping?
