I am thinking about starting to read some political books. I might order something from amazon. Anyone know if this is a good one? I like her ideas, but I'm not certain if she is a good writer.

Hey, /lit/. What do you think Albert Camus was trying to say in the Myth of sisyphus (Other than the obvious hurr durr, life is meaningless, Albert Camooooo~ said so.), I'd like to see what he would have had to say after, and where he would have gone after had he not died.

You stupid mongoloid. Camus wasn't saying 'life is meaningless'

The Myth of Sisyphus is an easily digestible narrative of absurdism. Camus basically asserts that, while our activities may be meaningless and our struggle may be meaningless, life, in itself is not meaningless, just absurd. One must come to terms with this absurdism and rebel against it, hence the rolling of the stone. We find meaning in this rebellion

Hey /lit/. I was wondering if any of you had recommendations for a general overview of our solar system. Specifically aimed towards adults with a good understanding of physics and astronomy.

Any recommendations that pertain to a specific body within our solar system may also go here.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

After the meeting in the presence of innocent
Good, not bad, really
Their interest is still strong.

In fact, some of the revelation, there are at hand
true.
back! These words only
The outside world Spyri
Waste of sand of the desert are involved.
Lion's head and body
Clear, sky of violence,
In the long program,
Angry Birds will go to the Kazekage.

Night fell, but I know now
120-rock is in a sleep state
We will sleep in mchikuta swing of doubt
What rough beast, the last day, I
What do you ugly born in Bethlehem?

This biblical allusion (akin to Noah's flood) might be portraying the world awash with blood from the first world war.

The ceremony of past ages is destroyed by it, and a new terrible event or age is upon us.

Alright /lit/, which is better way of thinking about grammar and English usage? Prescriptivism or descriptivism?
16 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
depends on the context
>>
>>7659534
descriptive unless there's good reason to be prescriptive
so, for example, it would be confusing if we just accepted the incorrect use of "literally" to mean basically its opposite, so we should be prescriptivists on that point

>tfw just realized that I was studying philosophy and taking an interest in literature for the past year out of escapism not out of genuine desire for intellectual enrichment and cultivation of my creative potential and that at the end of the day I'd rather just exit NEETdom, become a normie wage slave, and use my time off to drink and watch anime then continue down the path of simultaneous enlightenment and over whelming confusion which I've been travelling until now

>tfw you realize you're just a stupid person who tried to be smart in order to forget that the only fate for people such as yourself is to either be a lonesome NEET who sucks the blood of society at large, will succumb to his depression, and eventually stick a gun in his mouth or to be a wage slave who makes money for other people just so that they can have enough to go to the bar and get hammered and have casual sex with women just as indifferent to your personality and character as you are to their's

Well anons, for those of you who aren't cowards such as myself, I wish you the best. This will probably be my last post on /lit/, as I truly have no interest or desire left in literature or philosophy, and the above stated reasons are the only rational explanation. I'm sorry for being such a charlatan. Take care
