which hemingway book should i start with?
I started with For Whom the Bell Tolls, but I would recommend getting that with The Old Man and The Sea and reading that first.
You can start anywhere and go anywhere. I would recommend starting with his novels and of those the ones that were published in his lifetime. In my experience A Farewell to Arms is the worst received of his novels so maybe start somewhere else.

I just use it to include the two criteria easily
although, I don't see how any other thesis would be different, they're all going to address that the movie goes or doesn't go by normal romantic film conventions
