Female PKK fighters probably understand it better than men who have never fought in a war.

Pretty much any book
Behold! The "The" trilogy: successor of trilogies past, the champion of the elitist sentiments so prominent in our little community.
Damn, those covers are boring.
Where's 2666.

Can we have a help thread?
Tell us what issues you're facing while writting your work, what can you do to make it better or any other concern you have regarding your own literature.
My problem: in my novel, the main character is supposed to read a notebook left by his art mentor that comitted suicide to him. This notebook is supposed to have writings that will have a major impact in the main character's life and behavior. It talks about what is art itself, what is an artist, what is the purpose of art, etc. That gives the main character a new view on his own art and his own life.
How can I write this? Obviously I can't write two books in one. How can I express how important the writings left by the deceased teacher are?

Old Thread >>7401096
Hey amigos. I'm new here but I posted in the last thread with the cool elephant. Probably wasn't a great idea to post some ideas at the end of the thread so I'll just repost I suppose and get the ball rolling. I usually write short stories that I've never shared with people besides my english class. But anyways it's a story about gangs in a steampunk kind of world (think final fantasyISH if I had to name something) and it's kind of a straight forward adventure I suppose with an emphasis on the morals of these peoples lives and stuff. Not trying to reinvent the genre or anything.
I know I sound like a total fag here but I'm just very new to this all and trying to get some serious criticism if the idea is even interesting or not. I kind of want to write a bunch of stuff that goes against the grain but I'm not sure if that's just cause I'm tired of politics. One of the characters was gonna be from the top gang and realize even if she's not a shitlord like the rest she's still gonna be treated the same so it really isn't about doing the right thing to stay alive, more her wanting to succeed and just going with the circumstances. Is that too edgy? I feel like too many stories these days always end up with someone bad doing the right thing and dying cause of it or being redeemed and I want to avoid that.
Same guy as before though, PROBABLY should at least respond to OP.
>What you are you currently reading?
I'm actually looking for a book I read a long time ago. I think it's called the thief lord? Wanted to nostalgia read
>Who's your favorite Spirit/Ethereal being from SF and Fantasy?
I feel like a giant cock here but literally nothing comes to mind mayne. Maybe I'm just drawing a blank but I can't think of a single one

I don't like steampunk or Final Fantasy so it sounds like crap from a setting pov.
>even if she's not a shitlord like the rest she's still gonna be treated the same so it really isn't about doing the right thing to stay alive
What?
ITT we post an image and guess what book said image refers to.

The cover is sweet. So much shilling though. Does it help?
man, the shilling.
i read something on your page about the guy making "coffee" by shoving a tube in his butt and essentially just draining his feces into the coffee pot somehow

Where to start with poetry?
read poetry
read writings about poetry
go for a walk
The Writer's Almanac is a comfy podcast to start with. Every day, an old man talks about random stuff in the past, goes into detail about one of them and closes with a random poem. Listen to the archives to hear a variety of poets and maybe find a few you like.
Just finished the "Delirium" chapter, where Mitya spends all of his money treating everyone in the inn to an "orgy" of a feast, which ends with him being accused and arrested. Although I've been completely captivated and awed the entire way through, this was the moment where I decided that this may be one of the handful of truly top-tier books in history (although I've only read so many). Anyone else have a similar or different experience?

Currently have a Nexus 7 which I use more than frequently.
Only issue is that it's a bit too heavy to hold it up all the time while reading, also I'd kinda prefed the screens of the E-Readers a tad better for longer reading sessions, I guess.

meh
All I know is that people keep quoting that line from The Alcemist: "Just want something and the universe gives it to you!" or whatever it is. That may not be accurate, but that's how people keep treating it as and I think it's a dumb attitude to take in life.
