What are some good books about individualism, or at least ones that highlight the irrationality of collectivists/authoritarians?

Never get so attached to a poem
You forget truth that lacks lyricism
And never draw so close to the heat
That you forget that you must eat,
Thoughts on JNew and her lyrics?

BG2 did it better, and really, BG2 wasn't saying anything Coleridge or Schelling didn't.

write a good novel
I found this in my 9 year old brother's school folder.
What books should I get him?
The Bible
>my life is perfect
>except for this and that
This is lovely. Put him in touch with me and I'll be his editor.

Give him Harry Potter or Hunger Games. He's in danger of becoming a bitter outcast, so you need to turn him into a normie asap.
In all seriousness, define "good prose".
The prose that is most like poetry.

Yep

This is actually not bad.
why am I such a fucking slow reader? I pick up a picture of dorian grey, it's taken me days to get 26 pages into the book. I have this problem, see? I pick up the book and at first I read with fervor, then I start to slow down, until I am so tired that I am reading the same line over and over again, not able to comprehend it because my attention has waned so much. I don't know if this is a common phenomenon with people who don't read that much. I picked up The Perks Of Being A Wall Flower, I read about 36 pages of that book in a couple hours, it's very easy...

Stop using the internet so much. Being raised by it, reading inane articles or shitposts, you're only trained to read in short bursts, not knowing how to deeply focus on a lengthy text.
I found reading incredibly hard after spending years online and playing video games. Your ability to read is going to be really off at first, and gradually normalize itself until it'll feel as easy as doing anything else. Just keep at it.
Does anyone knows if there are any english subs for this?

What do you guys think of Grape of Wrath? I thought it was pretty neat, ending was a little boring tho
one of the worst posts I've ever seen here.
haha ya
>>8078244
Needs more grapes and less wrath.
Is use of the word 'whom' ever justified today? I just used it in the following:
"He was grateful to his parents to whom he owed his conscientious and pragmatic nature to." Will this come across as pretentious and pseudo intellectual to the reader? Or is it authentic.
It was perfectly fine until you stuck another 'to' on the end and made yourself look like an idiot.
>>8078243
That's just correct grammar.
>>8078257
fuck true, thanks.

That's so messy, though.

I used to double shelve my books. Two rows to a shelf. It was a bit of task finding specific books but it helped until I got a bigger shelf
>he has read Stirner
>he thinks saying "spooks" is in any way an argument or a refutation
It's imbecile way to note that someone is too far fetched in his belief or idea without further attempt to persuade or make him believe in what yourself would wish him to believe in.
Yeah, persuasion to believe something you would like him to believe, a belief that supposedly doesn't suffer from some fool noting of muh spooks. But nothing is free from having "spooky" as a response....

Do you truly believe that when people post "spooks" they're genuinely trying to convince you of their own beliefs? Like you said, it's just shitposting.
Now read Atomised and Platform. If you like them, go for the rest of Houellebecq's novels.
Lanzarote isn't worth your time (even if it's very short).

Agreed. OP doesn't even bother to give her opinion.
there was a study released on this either last year or the year before concluding that about 85% of it has to do with the smell of paper and ink. apparently the brain doesn't know how to process them very well because they are so unnatural and that's why depression has only really started to become a problem in western society since the invention of the printing press
>>8077897
That sounds fucking dumb, show me the source of that gay ass study
