1. It's a downgrade to theology as a whole. More warlike and advocating a clear intolerance of other faiths, and have been a source of strife ever since their inception.
2. It has no real clerical hierarchy like Catholics, but in terms of secular power it is really totalitarian. See The Caliph throughout the Middle ages.
3. No. Read the Koran. They make mention of slaying Infidels, burning them, and cutting off the hands of theives. Not to mention stoning gays.

Islam is the mirror image of Christianity, much more so than even Phariseeism.
Phariseeism was merely hypocrisy and empty legalism focused on this world alone. When Rabbinical Talmudic "Judaism" mutated from this poison base in the Middle Ages, it created a kind of amoral tribal sociopathy, bent on infiltrating and destroying host societies. You can't accuse "Jews" of hypocrisy because they have no morality, not even legalism, just pure materialism.

The best bits of Blood Meridian is the shock value. The book holds very little else in redeeming quality.
Neil Gaiman is bound to go down as one of neo-America's classic writers and he will be cited and quoted 50 years after his death. He's partly enjoyable but mainly because he panders to Tumblr-tards.
The Dark Materials trilogy is really the only YA-fiction people should read outside of young adulthood.
Conan Doyle was right: Sherlock is a bad series of books.
People on /lit/ don't discover literature themselves and rely heavily on what they find on charts and what they hear about on /lit/, which is why everyone just reads the same shit over and over.

Yes. Or, rarely, when they are published, they'll make an ambiguous claim that seems to imply that they're a legitimate author on the road to living out the /lit/ dream, and then when pressed, they reveal that the thing they've written is some trashy fantasy/scifi novel.
I just finished reading Things Fall Apart and was moved deeply by it. What are some other African author's, or specific works by them that are well regarded? This is honestly the only book by a native African that I know of.
I hear that there's been a growing science fiction scene within the past couple of decades or so and that sounds wild.

People have said good things about Zakes Mda and Tayeb Salih but I didn't like either of these authors.
You know Afrikaans people are native Africans, right? They've been living in South Africa for hundreds of years, just as long as most Bantu people. If I'm not allowed to be racist and call 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants in my country "foreigners" then by the same token people should extend the same respect to the Afrikaans.
They haven't lived in the Netherlands for a long, long, time.
