I'm mostly into visual art, but I'm certain there's some good writing out there that I haven't found yet.
Look into 'Bizarro fiction'
Never read any of it myself but it's a kind of 'cult' genre that should fit your bill

It's kinda garbage. Beyond the initial blurb, they're very simply written and short. You'd find better weird stuff for free on Gelbooru or E-Hentai.
Check out Lord Horror by David Britton...it is actually a graphic novel, but thoroughly in the Ballardian sort of niche
>pic related it's about the holocaust being a rave and hitler being the d.j. (vaguely) not as edgey as it sounds it has literary chops
Anyone has an opinion on Iceword? Is there anyone that has done better? I am relatively new to Science F.

doesn't look like literature
Is it fair to say that this man had as much of an impact on modern or popular fantasy as Tolkien?
who is that semen demon
Unfortunately, yeah.

what if somenoe posted a thread about the lottery of babylon with a pic of borges and you replied "who is that sweepstakes beefcake"
Worth the read?

You can read it, OP. But understand that Clausewitz has been superseded since WW2, especially as our thoughts about warfare have changed drastically from when he wrote the book. Still, he did affect German military thought for over a century, so he's worth reading for that reason alone. Just remember that he's not as relevant as he used to be.
Erland Josephson's Wikipedia page says he wrote a large number of books, but I can't seem to find any of them. Has anyone here read them?
>>7565509
I haven't read any of his things, but as far as I can tell it's only been published in Nordic countries.
Post you favorite quote
>>7565486
what makes that your favorite quote OP
Mine's probably: "A warm human plumpness settled down on his brain. His brain yielded. Perfume of embraces all him assailed. With hungered flesh obscurely, he mutely craved to adore."
Joyce's sentences spring with such rich sounds and perfect form, that line makes me want to write and be great more than anything else. Pure motivation.

oh, and that thing from portrait, the "still unfallen but about to fall" passage, there was a thread that mentioned it like a week ago I think
>>7565486
wtf with this breads? this is so low quality shitposting, go back to Facebook to discuss fave quotes. what is even this shit?
My life is shit but I have loads of free time.
What are some books that can provide me hours of escapism?
I don't care if they are genre shit as long as they keep me entertained and maybe intrude into my dreams.
I read almost transparent blue and I really liked it, main character felt like a self insert and his friends were my friends. I want something that replicates that feel. Other murakami works didn't do the trick for me.
Gormenghast series
>>7565402
I'd start with the hobbit. I also enjoy Redwall and other children's novels
>>7565402
Honestly, I may get flamed for this but The Hardy Boys Series. I used to own the entire collection when I was a teenager and I read every single one multiple times over. They are the best mystery books ever written in my opinion and if you want to just get lost in a completely different world, you couldn't have a better series. I would finish 1/day.

I just got done watching Radio Free Albemuth which is a depiction of Philip K. Dick's VALIS.
What did you guys think about the craaazy story?Philip K. Dick was right
>>7565295
He was right. Couldn't finish Valis though it was just exhausting. Do Androids and the Minority Report short story were spot on though. A Scanner Darkly is my favorite book by him. Love that schizo speed-head
>>7565295
It's a girl I know's favorite book but I never really cared for PKD
How am I supposed to take the pseudo-intellectual babbling of Valis? Is it ironic? Is it sincere? Is it a little of both? Who's the voice of reason? Dick or Fat?
Is poem critiquing allowed on lit? I'm a bit new to this board, and I love to write poetry, but nobody to share it with. It's personal to me because it's an outlet for emotions. If so, here's a piece. Tell me what you think guys.
What Weekends?
Friday ends on a sweet note.
Tension and stress is purged through the pervasive pores.
Breathe.
Departing from the sweat and smiles, dread lingering in the subconscious.
Reality is waiting at a place this called “home.”
Pack on the back, water on the side, headphones on.
The train crawls forward in anticipation.
Brief thoughts of suicide,
cut short by the train.
Maybe next time.
The train is relieved.
Strangers with their own story doze.
Humans with their tendencies, their own habits, doze.
Silence on the way “home.”
A hand grips the doorknob tightly,
like any other day.
Spices flood the senses – as usual.
Legs sore, yet they climb the stairs dutifully.
Maybe Tia or Grandma will call today.
With luck, maybe even Dad.
Slim chances, sure, but a guy can hope.
Pack on the floor, water on the table, headphones on.
Climb in to bed wearily.
Silence.

What's his best short story?
not the ravine

The one where a girl and a man meet in a tavern during a blizzard. They start hitting things off, but for some reason decide to stop. Made me sad. Also made me comfy.
Do you think publishing this book was the best or worst decision of Marx'?
>>7565047
It's a neat book
It wasn't his worst decision, at least. His worst decision was having 6 billion children and being unable to support them without Engles's daddy dollars
>>7565047
It's a NEET book
“She worked on the New Terra Ships,” Icarus said, walking down the ramp. Thick goggles hung around zir neck, sweat dripping from zir hair, fresh from the workshop. A wry, distant sort of smile had spread across zir face. “She spent her whole life working on those ships, designing their hulls, fixing their lugnuts, running their simulators. She dreamed of humans finally and forever breaking free of the Earth and living up in space. Dreamed of helping us escape our doomed little world. She believed in New Terra.” Icarus walked over and stared at the picture with Europa....
