So i'm 26 and and i've only recently gotten in to reading. I've lurked a while and i've checked the sticky and have been reading some of the starter kit books.
I was wondering what non fiction books you recommened for someone new to reading? The starter kit only has fiction and the only other list I saw was the Greeks.

It's not as hard to deal with as people say and the worldbuilding is ok the first time, but it quickly gets old. The characters don't say much, but the many things implied makes them believable and emotionally charged. Overall, the best aspect of it is probably the minimalistic storytelling provided by the environment itself. I really loved this book. The repetition gives it a fairytale esq appeal while driving you down a path of ultimate despair.
If you've never read Gogol before, you may want to read some of his short works first. He is a very strange and unique writer, and you have to acclimate yourself to his style before you start picking up on the subtleties of his writing.

It was at one point, wasn't it? There's a whole period where sci-fi was rolling out all kinds of strange ass ideas on humanity and our future and all that. It kind of came and went, it seems. And as always, most genre fiction is terribad. With sci-fi and fantasy it seems you do not actually have to be good at writing or forming great concepts, you just have to have "good or convincing worldbuilding."

Does comfy feeling from living near the sea ever wears off? I live near the lake with a lot of green around it and through the years it's just okay. On the other hand, because I'm spoiled with lake, I literally can't live in intense urban environment anymore. Of course, sea is much big of a deal than lake.
