Vapid blocks of grey littered
The vast stretch of green fields.
Sheets of shining glass
Fillled the now decadent curves
Of once heavily laboured land.
In the far distance, solitary
Cattle grazed their lives away.
Upon this scene of tired
Ulster sat a little fellow:
A blackbird of honest voice
Who sang soft melodies of
Playing children and dying men.
This harbinger of happy days spoke
And for a moment I thought
That not all in this world
Are blind to the beauties of life,
And I myself was not alone.
But as the sun declined
And...

Ainsi me parlai-je -- et aussitôt...

C'est bien.
Par contre, ca s'écrit pelletée.
Bravo, j'aime.
>vigueur affaiblie.
Un peu étrange, l'image est peu parlante au premier abord
>Sous la lune jaune, je glisse et tousse et crisse;
Je vais vers un pays très lointain, un refuge
Que je n'atteindrai pas, malgré mon sacrifice.
C'est très beau.
Joli sonnet. Le rythme a travailler, un peu, peut être ?

All very enjoyable books. Some of them, I've read 5 or more times. Those authors knew what they were fucking doing, you know?
Post your own, and comment on other people's.

Poor bait.
>>7627753
Not bait, friend, just what I think. You know that many of those books / authors are recognised as modern classics, right? DFW is obviously a celebrated author, and 2666 and Freedom are considered great books. The only bait here is your post.
What was the universe before Adam? Is there any books telling us besides the Bible? Are we told what earth was like?
Also: what books detail the world before the ancient eras of history, for example, I found out this neato fact that Seth went to God and used a branch from the tree of of life to make Adam immortal and said branch was used to make the cross Christ died upon.

no. its the glory of the written word. not god
Was Shakespeare unprecedented? Was his wit and devilishly slick tongue unheard of before him?
I just can't imagine how one could come up with his plays and poems at the time. His approach to life and art is far too modern to be true.
No.
If you've read Juvenal and Chaucer, it will seem less unprecedented...
Marlowe was just as good if not better
Why should I read this? Is the plot interesting? The characters?
>Why should I read this?
I don't care. Don't read it if you don't want to. Fuck off.

7/10 made me chuckle a bit. nice bait desi senpai
Is it an insane thought of mine to have this desire to become a scholar and contribute to the mythological canon of Greek theology? I honestly feel like there is esoteric knowledge of particular myths that I am privy to that needs to be expressed in some fashion.
I hope it's not some form of latent insanity or my drug abuse that's making me feel like I have the power to resurrect ancient lost knowledge of Greek theological thought
No, but I can absolutely guarantee you that if you actually do the work of background reading, you'll go through like sixty five stages of meta-realization that you were incredibly naive and knew nothing, and there is a whole world out there that has already explicitly articulated much or all of what you vaguely felt you wanted to say
I know because I had/have similar things and that tends to be what happens

Not to say you should give up on the dream
>The fact is, you get great art only from mutilated egos. Only mutilated egos are obsessive enough.
>Men's egotism, so disgusting in the talentless, is the source of their greatness as a sex. ... intellectual obsession, that self-mutilating derangement of social relationship which, in its alternate forms of crime and ideation, is the disgrace and glory of the human species.
cool op, so were'd you learn your ancient greek and latin?
This thread is for questions you have about words. Help out others and get help.
If you have a thought or you're trying to search for the "proper" word for an abstraction, post what you're looking for here. And anything related.
I'll start, I'm looking for a sonorous-sounding synonym for "seating area", or just another word for that. There must be several different specific name for an area with seats
>>7625371
room
>>7625377
I'm thinking more like 'patio' but a better word
>>7625371
Auditorium? - or Veranda, maybe. Room does have a nice swoop to it, but it's an emphasis most readers aren't going to hear.

Is being an ugly and pallid white guy a requirement to get into the antinatalist club?
>>7624199
It may make you more likely to have the experiences that lead you to anti-natalism, but no.
Yes. Niggers, Chad and women are not intelligent enough to see the truth in antinatalism

How do you like to read, /lit/? Do you read always in the same place? Do you have a special chair?
I personally read on bed all my life, but I feel uncomfortable when reading during the day, and that happens a lot. How do you read for hours while sitting? I found the positions of my legs, that's where I place the book to be to most troublesome.
Tell me how did you improve your comfort while reading.
I wish I could read anywhere like in a moving vehicle for example but I get sick in the stomach . I prefer to read laying down in complete silence. But I've trained myself to read with my girlfriend in the same room watching retarded television shows

That's a nightmare. Is she hot enough to justify enduring that?

bro, I'm planning on doing literature with a minor in philosophy, so I can become a writer for film and TV here at least.
planing on studying then another post bachelor degree over african history, I would love to write about african history and write novels for movies and series made over african history.
At least I see the african studies working for me, but I seriously wonder how it's gonna work for those faggots.
Do they even have a plan to make money off that major?
what is this nonsense
it actually bothers me that there's people retarded enough to make that picture.
anyways, you're a faggot if your only goal is to make money. you're also stupid if you think you can't learn whatever you need to know about being a writer outside of university.
Didn't find this that good. I enjoyed it, it was an easy read. I got excited when it got to sensei's letter part. After the book ended I realized it was just abouta pathetic loser who was too afraid to confess his love. And an even more pathetic loser who thought it was worth his time to over glorify some random loser.

Yeah. I don't even like Soseki among Japanese authors, but people here shat themselves about this book here a few years ago. I haven't seen it mentioned lately. In fact, J-lit threads are much less common outside of the occasional Mishima thread.
>>7628780
Oh and Murakami (either) doesn't count.
Ok /lit/, I have a challenge...
When I was little I listened to a really interesting audiobook.
From what I can remember, It took place in the 40s and 50s, maybe the 60s. But the name alludes me.
Here's what I can remember...
-It had a villain named "Nicolas Bluegums"
-It had the Grand Canyon in it.
-It had Japanese people in camps. I don't know if POW or internment. The camp had ghosts in it, by the by.
-The cover had Native American or Australian art. I don't remember.
Can you help me find the title of this book?

Have you tried Looking for Alaska?

It couldn't have been that. I was 5.
How does one become articulate, like a writer?
>>7628427
Read, isolate yourself completely from outward influences. it works like shooting or music, practice makes perfect, practice practice practice. If you stay away from hearing accents, or words spoken, or words written in any way other than the author you wish to emulate, you will lose all progress quickly. my suggestion is isolate and read read read read read. read until your thoughts are written by the author himself, then read some more. it will never be permanent, but after some months, you will be able to save some...
