I can't find his blurb on Saunders, where is that?
Hi /lit/.
I'm trying to start an archive going again.
You can see my couple of days of work here: https://dialecticarchives.com/
Where can I find more data to archive? what other features would you like to see?
Less than a year worth of posts? that's hardly of use... Especially when there isn't even away to search posts as far as I can see.
What happened to the old archive???
Last night I finished reading this. It completely blew me away and I'd say it's definitely one of my favorite books now.
I'm slowly making my way through the /lit/ recommended list. I know that Suttree is on it but I need more McCarthy. The film adaption of No Country is fucking god-tier but I've heard some say it's one of his weaker books?
In your opinion, which of his books are worth my time? I'll probably read them all at some point but I have a ton on my to-read list as it stands now.
take this pleb shit back to r/books
My objective McCarthy rankings
1. Blood Meridian
2. Suttree
3. The Crossing
4. All the Pretty Horses
5. Child of God
6. Outer Dark
7. The Sunset Limited (play)
8. The Road
9. No Country for Old Men
10. The Orchard Keeper
11. Cities of the Plain
I haven't read The Stonemason, The Counsellor or The Gardner's Son (stage play and two screenplays)

>falling for the mccarthy meme this hard
Ive never seen anyone mention Jim Dodge or this book so wondering if anyone else has read it?
>endorsed by Pynchon
>tale of criminal outlaws
>gambling, magic, jewel hiests
>endorsed by your lord and saviour
Why havent you read this tale yet
cause i'm near-broke, cause i can't find it in any secondhand stores, cause i don't live anywhere where online bookbuying is reasonably priced
Has Anyone here read another /lit/icens work and liked it? Tell me about it. Just finished anons book and it didn't suck

I did once and it seemed like the work of a grade C GCSE English student.
Never again

Nice dubs. What was it about?
There is a master of Creative writing on mi city... I am thinking about taking it, but at the same time I feel stupid for doing it... What do you think about Creative writing, anons?
Are there any recommended free online creative writing courses?
That's like getting a masters to try and play the piano. Sure someone can teach you to do it but it's something you can EASILY learn on your own. As with every other skill all you gotta do is learn the basics and then practice. In this case what I'm saying is go fucking write something to the best of your ability. It will probably be shit. Bring it to /lit/ for critique and listen to the people who actually take you seriously. Repeat.
Question is, do you read often? If not go read a book goddamn. How could one write music if they'd never heard any before?

Well, my bachelor degree is on literature. I dropped it a while ago, I had some issues about what it meant to study literature... then I just went back to finish it.
The point is, I actually think the same as you, but I also think publishing is more about social skills than writing abilities... I am pretty biased since I left my work on a publishing house and reality fucked my little pampered ego.
Hi /lit/,
I m studying modern litterature, andI have a presentation to do about
the art and litterature.
But I really don t kno anythingh on the subject and I need some advices
to prepare the subject.

>here is a situation: you are with someone, they point at a hippo and laugh
>here are your choices: (1) say 'that is not funny' and point at a tree and laugh and say 'that is funny' (2) say 'that's interesting you think a hippo is funny, because i don't think a hippo is funny' and think 'this person believes a hippo is funny, i will not be their friend' (3) ask why they laughed at the hippo and listen to their explanation and maybe think 'i understand people are...

That's not a philosophy and it's nothing that hasn't been said before. In a word, banal.
Hello /lit/,
I'm looking to start with some Pablo Neruda.
Anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start?

"Selected poems". Stephen Mitchell's translations are very good, but he hasn't made a lot.
>>7679068
I think Extravagario is probably his most accessible. Full Powers, some Elemental Odes and Canto General should also be read. Again, in Mitchell's translation there are some Odes and parts of Extravagario, but not many.

This is the only correct answer.
Dolon.

I've been trying to get into books again, and so I read a couple Banana Yoshimoto novels. I thought they were nice. The way she communicates the way she feels, and how she sees things is really pleasant, even when there isn't a lot going on in the story.
What should I read now, /lit/?
>>7679036
if you enjoyed yoshimoto i recommend pic related
the american translation is called the briefcase and is about 25 pages longer

Sounds boring.
Comparable to Cormac McCarthy or Raymond Carver? Underrated, surely
He's a favorite of MFA and undergraduate creative writing classes. For good reason, actually. His works can teach you a good deal about narrative voice.
>Comparable to Cormac McCarthy
that's not a good thing senpai
Hello /lit/, im in need of a book/novel/shortstory/movie.
To be specific, i need it to have some sort of spacetravel (further a few lightyears).
I'm writing my exam paper on the special theory of relativity. The weird rules of the school have decided that i need some sort of literature mix'ed into my paper. Therefore i would like to talk about the impossibility of spacetravel to a far away object with modern technology, while analysing the novel from a english literature point of view.
The Star Wars could work, but since i've never been a...

You might like Blindsight by Peter Watts.
where is Aristotles Comedy? Is it possible he had insight that we still haven't figured out?
it's lost.
it probably wasn't that funny anyway, or there would have been more copies.

Nah, Aristotle didn't have insight we haven't figured out. Just like he didn't have Physical/Metaphysical insight we wouldn't have later figured out or disproved.
What are some strange funny books?
something similar to what dril posts on twitter
