Does anyone have advice on how to git gud at After Burner? I feel like I just can't react fast enough to dodge the missiles, and sometimes I can't even see them.
Also, Sega arcade thread.

Practice makes perfect my nigga
>>2824783
Play it without sound. No joke.
>>2824783
Shoot the enemy jets down b4 they launch missiles. Easier said than done I know. Your going to have a better chance staying alive tho if your dodging 1 or 2 missiles compared to 10 flying at you. Keep moving and put on the Afterburners when dodging.
Luv me some AfterBurner but the game can be hard. Good luck OP!
So I've like got a craving for a fun RPG. How does this game hold up for someone who never played a Mother game?
I've also got an arcade stick and I just want to utilize it as much as I can, just for fun and giggles so i'd reckoned a Snes game would be perfect.
Why don't you just play it instead of asking the internet if you should try a game that you're not even paying for, OP?
Since you're pirating it anyway why do you feel the need to ask?
Yeah it's fun and has a great atmosphere. It's a good time.
Wanted to post my 2 button joystick I put together using a donor cord from a spectravideo/msx 2 button non-micro switch joystick, a few arcade buttons and a stick I had spare, and a pc psu box. A little light atm but works a treat. Post any 2 button joysticks you have especially for micro-computers.

used crimps and those arcade clipon things so the whole thing was solderless
Hey /vr/,
Do you guys use individual emulators to play older games, or have you moved to Retroarch? I'm currently trying Retroarch out to emulate Episode 1 Racer for the N64 myself, but I get quite a bit of stutter.
lol retroarch is a meme for crt shader loving faggtos
>>2823785
I don't use shaders.
Anything else?
>>2823795
why are you even on retroarch then? just lol at following the herd without even knowing why
Will there ever be a better game?
Its OST is perfect.
Kirby Triple Deluxe is fantastic and gives Super Star a run for its money, but in the end I still say Super Star edges out because of Great Cave Offensive.
Nothing can beat Kirby Super StarUltra
But which part of the OST is MOST perfect?

What's the best Jurassic Park game /vr/

That intro is pretty dang spooky. You could make a pretty good screamer out of that.
RAMPAGEEDITION

Go back to /doom/.
Remember when Nintendo really milked Pokemon in the 90s?
Pokemon Snap, Puzzle League, Hey You Pikachu etc etc
And I wanted them all, I WAS CLOSE.
i remember i used to buy the cards but never bothered to learn how to play until i got this game
>>2823154
it was still better than the pokemon shit coming out today
He literally did nothing wrong.
He did

He was given 5 weeks to make the game. If he was given more time he probably would have made something good seeing as he did Yar's Revenge and other 2600 top sellers. Also, Spielberg played it prior to release and gave it the OK, so Spielberg could have stopped it. If you haven't seen it, I'd highly reccomend watching Atari: Game over.
>makes some of the best games for the Atari 2600
>given his time constraints for E.T., no one should blame him
>he's been forgotten to time
Is it just coincidence that I so frequently see Hard Corps referred to as the hardest Contra game? Is it a meme I'm unaware of? I'm baffled as to how someone can actually hold that opinion.
>short playthroughs
>lots of extra lives
>plenty of continues
>most boss fights (and the game is comprised mostly of boss fights) can be easily trivialized
>invincibility slide

You forgot >Fang
Hard Corps Uprising is way better.
>>2823008
It is quite easy, but most of the contra games can be "trivialized" and considered easy too.
contra hard corps is fun as shit if you ask me.
I like the pacing with it being mostly a boss rush with various routes.
Best retro superhero games?
Besides the Capcom fighters.
>>2822969
Just played this game.
Terrible controls, bland backgrounds, bland level design, terrible hitboxes - just an overall bad choice for an OP image, OP.
Though I will admit the spritework was gorgeous in this game.
>>2822989
I chose it for the amazing Bagley art.
I win :^)
Let's talk retro co-op multiplayer. What do you prefer:
>Players are mechanically identical (like Chip & Dale, Doom, and TwinBee)
>Players have some mechanical differences (like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade), The Simpsons, and Donkey Kong Country)
If it depends, then when do you prefer which style?
Different characters make for more interesting and complex gameplay. Players can take on specific roles such as attacking, defending and support. Only problem with differing characters is there might be arguments over who should do what. Similar characters let people take whatever role they want and there might be less cooperation and more competition.
I like when characters differ vastly in play style so I can try beating the game with every character. I don't do co-op.
Depends, I'd say I prefer each character with unique styles, but maybe for certain genres like shmups it's better if both players are the same.
While surely not the biggest, Citan was definitely a buzz kill. After a somewhat slow start the player character climbs into the Weltall and all this guy can say is: Do not do this, Fei! No, fuck you, Citan.
Who do you nominate, /vr/?
He was right you know
1. He never returned the buggy to that guy in the desert town. In fact did he even pay for the rent? lol
2. He is a doctor although lives up a big hill that towers over the town. If anyone needs his help they will have to climb up and jump a few gaps.
3. He let Fei and Elly eat soylent green even after knowing what it was himself.
4. Does he even care much about his family that he leaves behind so go on this amazing adventure?
>>2822713
This meme has been going on for too long.
Citan was always right and only literal babbies would deny it.
Does this game have the most underrated setting in all of gaming? I am actually surprised it's setting and themes haven't been copied much if at all.
From what I seen of Shadowrun Returns it doesn't seem to capture the same feel that the SNES game did although it looks like an okay game.
>is cyberpunk underrated
No
Oh shit! A friend of mine reccomened this to me the other day. When I complete Metroid Fusion, this is next. Does Shadowrun live up to the hype?
>>2822509
Not just Cyberpunk anon. Also the fantasy elements to go along with it. That's what I meant.
How do I open this goddamn door?

how they managed to emulate a 64 bit architetture on a 32 bit macchine?
Here's a number: 64
That number is sixty-four, but you'll notice it only consists of two numbers; a six and a four. How can we represent a large number such as sixty-four with only two numbers? We do it by having a smaller number represent a bigger number. "64" can be explained as us having six tens and four ones. The highest number that can be represented by 32-bits is 4,294,967,296. After that limit is reached, we start a second number that keeps track of how many 4,294,967,296s we have.
If at some point in your life you've managed to...

Because the R4300i CPU has two modes: 32bit and 64bit. Pretty much every single game ran in 32bit mode since there was little point in using 64bit when you're dealing with a system that has only 4 to 8 megabytes of RAM.
This CPU only had 64bit mode in case you were trying to build a server out of them, not a bloody 90s games console.

Also emulators are generally high-level emulation that don't seek to accurately reproduce the cycles of the original CPUs, so you can build in special cases to handle...

So The n64 is a scam, in some ways
