Is the stealing really overpowered in this game? I'm only at 30-40 for this skill and I'm taking almost everything from everybody I meet. Comparatively, the other skills don't seem to do very much.
It's really not because it basically makes no difference, your odds are about the same no matter what unless your steal skill is obscenely high
thusly you can have 10 steal skill and still steal a bozar off that one guard in NCR, only reloading maybe 3-6 times because the bozar is so heavy.
wanna steal a stimpack off someone and it'll work 80% of the time
so don't bother raising it anymore unless you're playing ironman or something in which case why are you stealing

Gentlemen, /tv/ has the movies to debate. Now let's have our rightful debate. Which of the Super Star Wars trilogy is the best?
My vote goes to Jedi. By then the devs had making these games down to a fine science. The levels - both the regular and Mode 7 ones - had the most polish. There was the return of character select which had been stripped from Empire. And best of all was the character select mode which let you play hilarious scenarios such as Wickett (who had the strongest attack power of any of them) against the Emperor.
A great series in general, anon. I'd agree, Super RotJ is the best. Fantastic boss fights, great gameplay. Other two were also much fun.

Just played this game, it was pretty fun, not as hard I imagined it would be, although I looked at a map for the final level.
How are the other Xanadu games? Worth giving a shot? And the Dragon Slayer games they originated from?
They're pretty great, though Faxanadu is a bit "casualized" if you will. You might also want to check out

There seems to be quite a lot of these games on the MSX which is why it's starting to surpass PCE-Duo on my list of next console to buy.
The Dragon Slayer games are all pretty different from each other. Faxanadu is closest to Romancia, Drasle Family and Sorcerian.
Xanadu is a top down RPG with just a side scrolling overworld.

Thoughts on this game? Never played it but it's out on PSN Plus this month. It's downloading now brehs would like a general on it while I go through it. Didn't know that the Full Throttle and DOTT guy made it until literally this moment that I googled pic related for thread picture so I'm kinda hyped.
It's good if you enjoy that sort of thing. I'd rate it 73%.

This video was on a demo disc I got back in 2000 and the music always fascinated me. This month I finally got the PSP version.
What an awful video. Makes a great game look boring. As for the music, it might just be a public domain song, since it's clearly not related to Star Ocean.
So I just learned that if you hold start as the N64 turns on you enter memory card management mode.
When I use my old memory card, it says that it's damaged and cannot be read. Is there any way to try fixing it, or is it busted for good? It's no big deal, but I'm kind of interested in seeing what save files are still on there from games I rented from blockbuster.

I'm waiting on my friend to give me Mystical Ninja before I drop a gad on a Memory Card and Goemon's Great Adventure.
Looking back, it's kinda funny that you had to drop extra to be able to save your game to lower the cost or make room in some N64 games. Makes you wonder how much better Nintendo could have made their games if they had just bundled a memory card with the console.

No idea if it can be fixed, but here's a wild guess, if it says it's damaged, probably the save files are lost. If you manage to fix it, there won't be any of your old files there. I wish you luck though.

Is it just me or did n64 games not age well at all? I got a everdrive 64 recently and most of them are just terrible games.
Haven't you got the memo? Every game has aged bad. Doesn't matter if it's Symphony of the Night on PS1, Goemon's Great Adventure on N64 or Guardian Heroes on Saturn. They ALL aged BADLY! Like MILK!! XD

Go for Might and Magic 3 or 4+5 for something beginner friendly.

Be prepared to spend an eternity rolling for decent stats to your characters, while this is boring and takes forever it saves time in the long run and also prevent shitloads of frustration.
Also the game autosaves your game after every battle. Why knowing this matters? If you find yourself brutally massacred in battles (this WILL happen a lot especially early on) hit that reset button before all your characters are kill and you don't have to spend all your money to revive your death characters or spending another eternity trying to roll another character with decent stats.

Got a decent amount of games, but the stand-out ones to me were sonic 1, gunstar heroes, shinobi 3, and decap attack.

I think they can be good as long as there is enough variations in the levels to stay interesting. Like if you go between snowy overworld, ice cave, blizzard, etc. then you've got a pretty cool ice world. SMB3 may not exactly do that, but it's still broken up by underground levels and they're able to do some neat stuff with the ice block that's introduced in that world. The level design also changes pretty significantly in each level so I'd say even if it doesn't spin a ton of variations on the theme, it's still an example of how a themed world can be done well and maintain interest.
Also water world in Mario 3 is fine so suck a dick OP.

Best way to use a SFC controller on PC? I want to use mine to play emulators because I no longer have a SFC.
Get a USB adaptor off eBay, search "SNES USB". The best one looks like a black box and takes two controllers. I do all my gaming with this on a Pi.
