I'm moving. All my retro consoles are in storage right now. Including my original Xbox and Wii, both modded and full of old ROMs. All I have with me is a MacBook Pro and a USB SNES controller. I want to play me some Mega Man 1-6, and I want those pixels to look unreasonably clean, like an HDMI-modded NES.
I know this is possible, I see it discussed on /vr/ all the time. I just don't know how. And that Emulation General thread is a burning car crash.
Any recommendations?

Bizhawk
OpenEmu
RetroArch
etc.
Question here, how's RetroArch for PSP and Wii? Does it surpass the previous emulation formats?

That's not Lolo.

Different kind of puzzle game.

Puzzle Fighter is superior.
It has Hsien-Ko
So I have a question for anons who grew up with the Nintendo 64. The two controllers I have always give me problems with the analog stick depending on the game, either the analog stick kinda works or I have to change controls because it's not usable. Was it always this bad/faulty?
>>2923310
I've used the same N64 controller for about 16 years now and it's never given me any problems at all.
>>2923310
I've found a lot of N64 controllers in my time with damaged analog sticks. Most people chuckle and say it was previously owned by someone with a copy of Mario Party (I believe all 3 Mario Parties on the N64 had minigames that required vigorous rotation of the stick where most kids would push their palm into the stick and rotate as forcefully as possible).
The analog stick overall though is somewhat flimsy and obviously subject to being worn out probably even through regular gameplay - I've always found...

I've got an N64 controller with a stick that I've been very gentle with. It works perfectly fine and is precise.
Hey /vr/ what's the best PS2 model to play PS1 games?
>>2926548
You posted it, since playing the original ps1 discs on a the original model causes balance issues making the jump around. You're better off getting a ps1 though.
>>2926548
Can my modded Slim play PS1? I got confused about backwards compatibility when later PS3 models couldn't play PS2 or something.
>>2926589
No you're not. Regular Playstations don't output component video
I'm having a hard time deciding which one I should get. Didn't grow up with SNES. Could use some help.
>>2930746
I prefer Super Metroid of those three, but you may feel differently. What other games do you really like?
Can't go wrong with any though.
Buy a flash cart instead, nigger.
No girl is going to fuck you because you ave a legit metroid cart
>>2930748
Well, I played N64 the most so games like Mario 64 and OoT. Never played any of the Metriod games. The only Castlevania I've played was on 360
I thought the 50hz thing was just a meme. But Sonic on the Mega drive is almost unplayable.
Is the slowdown caused by the system, the cartridge, or the TV?
If I play an ntsc version on the mega drive, will it run at the correct speed?
>>2929663
>I thought the 50hz thing was just a meme.
Why would you think a documented technological specification is a meme? Of course it makes a difference you fucking moron.
>>2929663
PAL video signals are 50hz. If you want to play games at the proper speed, get a TV and console that support NTSC.
>>2929812
He thought it being noticeable was a meme, dumb shit.
i threw out box+manual+etc. as a kid because i felt it was like the packaging for my action figures. just open it and toss it i don't need the box anymore.
fuck.
Thing is megadrive games aren't worth that much even if you had kept the box. Sega is just that much of a failure.
>>2928540
Me too. Zero regrets though. And I still do it when I buy new games now.
Never threw away the boxes/manuals.
Never knew anyone who did either.
Didn't even know that was a thing until I started browsing internet in the early 00's

hidden rupee stash above the gambling area?
So recently a guy on a local page advertised a lot of 19 N64 games for $150NZD (there were some good ones, mischief makers, turok 1&2 LoZ oot & MM etc) anyway, he dropped them off, I looked through they all looked fine, he left, and I found this in the bag. Plus their were 20 games, not 19
My N64s are in storage in my parents home city at the moment, and I dont have any tools, so I wants the best way to open this thing to look at it?? Also is their any way of telling if the other games he sold me are bootleg?? they all look legit, but I dont want to trust them now
Heres the pins by the way
Can we see the back?
Bootleggers always seem to fuck something up the labels
>>2929446
usually boots I've seen don't have the metal plates underneath
Anyway, they shouldn't even play without an adapter thing and an original cart

So my SNES is outputting in black and white when I use composite video. Switching to RGB scart will not give me this problem but I have no idea which cable will actually output 60hz.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so which cable did you use?
>>2927838
>So my SNES is outputting in black and white when I use composite video
That's because you're a retarded Yuropoor trying to use an NTSC console with a PAL TV.
>>2927838
>Switching to RGB scart will not give me this problem but I have no idea which cable will actually output 60hz.
If you use an RGB cable then you are completely immune to pal/ntsc problems, since you are not using neither, you use RGB. PAL/NTSC is a colour encoding, and RGB is un-encoded colour.
Whether your console outputs 50 or 60hz is a completely separate matter and is down to the console, not the cable.

Why does nobody talk about the greatest generation of gaming with the purest gameplay experience?
I guess you are all casual normies who think crash bandicoot is retro.
What is your favorite system and game in the 1st gen?
>>2927442
>and game in the 1st gen?
That's where all problems begin.
I sure love pong.
Does Spacewar count?
What do you guys use for emulation gaming on the go?
Used to have an Xperia Play, but sold that and trying to move to the Nvidia Shield.
Also, if you guys are thinking of getting a Shield Portable, I'd wait for the upgraded version with the X1 chip.
>>2926158
...PSP.
It does everything except SNES really well, up to and including the PSX.
>>2926182
I think the 3DS is also a great emulation machine.
I own a DSiXL with a R4 cart and I can play DS (duh), GB, GBC, NES, Turbografx, Master System, Game Gear and Genesis games on the go.
Sometimes the sound on my Nes emulator sounds like ass but I discovered that closing the console for a few seconds and then opening it again can fix the problem on the spot.
Either a smartphone or a New 3DS. N3DS is usually easier since it can emulate a lot of the stuff I want to play, but it's limited when it comes to actual emulators in comparison to an android device.
