Angry Video Game Nerd..serious discussion thread. What is going on with AVGN lately? Is it just me or are his sidekick friends Bootsy and Mike putting out most of the game reviews lately?
>>2932297
He probably is spending more time with his young child, he worked his ass off on the movie as well as episodes for years and having a kid is a full time job as it is.
>>2932297
and hidden.
>>2932297
Friendly reminder.
What is your opinion on these two games?
What is the best way to go about playing them? Is there source ports for these games like there is for Doom?
You can play them in Doom sourceports as long as you have the IWADs.
>>2920073
Shit games. They're being memed a lot on vr lately. Avoid them. Heretic has some cool music that's the best thing I can say about them.

Deadly Shadows. :^)
No, but really, I've beaten Thief Gold lately for the first time and loved it; normally I'm hardcore intoHitmanseries, but going back to the granddaddy of the modern stealth game was tons of fun.
I gotta finally get to TMA. Funnily enough, I thought that most people preferred it to TG, but lately I've been seeing more Gold people popping up.
Whats the best /vr/ anime and why is it Slayers?
At least post a picture of a Slayer vidya man.
Also Nadia.
Right here mate.
>>2909345
At least post the Mega Drive game.
I'm looking to experience games that go beyond a regular controller. How is Sega Bass Fishing with the Dreamcast fishing controller? Does it feel realistic when you get a bite and it pulls? Does the controller fight you kind of like a racing wheel does?
pretty sure you just pull and waggle
>>2939063
The rod doesn't pull when you land a fish? I've seen those fishing early LCD games do that.
>>2939054
No. It has no force feedback. Just waggle.
What's the best NGPC fighter?
>playing fighters on your own
>>2937941
>playing video games on your own
SNK vs Capcom MotM
>>2937947
Videogames are designed to be played alone, fighters are designed to be played competitively at high level. Whatever, if you just want to button mash like a scrub might as well play a modern game.
Anyone else stop colleting NES games because of their recent (as in over the past 5-10 years) rapid inflation?
>>2911820
The opposite. I had stuff in storage I realized I never really used anymore so I took the high market prices as an opportunity to dump stuff and make room.
Really though, old video games are collector's items at this point. Prices are bound to keep going up over time, that's just the way collector's items work.
>>2911820
I didn't have an NES growing up. First console was an SNES.
I generally find myself playing more PS1 onwards games. I actually don't want to collect garbage games, and the NES has those in spades.
I did just recently get a Neo-Geo MVS cabinet which is it's own kind of suffering for prices.

>I actually don't want to collect garbage games
lol did you get lost on the way to your thread? >>2909389
Screenshot and fuck off back to your game, here's mine

>When you accidently save over a 20-year old game file
I was never going to use it again but I still want to kill myself.

>tfw the save battery is slowly dying on your cartridges
>Go to access old save file, now its empty
>Can only play some games in a single sitting, because the save function is truly dead
>>2939178
You can replace the battery man.
Hey /vr/ I had noone else to ask so I came here.
What are some good prices for Suikoden 1 and 2 complete and PAL.
Also, Suikoden general.
google "video game price chart", it's the first link.
>>2938397
I know senpai, but those are NTSC prices.
Suikoden II PAL was really expensive 10 years ago
So apparently David Bowie had a vidya
Did /vr/ play it?
It's ok. Bowie wrote some original songs for it but barely had any lines in game though.
It's a slooooow sandbox.
>>2937819
I always wanted to play it but then i knew about David Cage.
How come they released 4 shit games starring Bubsy? who kept buying those games to make 4 of them? which other series got an awful lot of iterations inverselly proportional to its quality?
Drug money made by the dev on the side.
Specifically coke.
This little turd right here, i remember when my brother bought this when it was just released. Then we got home and he tried it, I felt sorry for him because he spent his savings on this. Later i learned that wasn't even Alfreds first game. Can't even believe someone thought this so good character it needed multiple games.
Heavy marketing.
In 1993, platformers weren't doing so hot. The ones that sold well were all licensed. Tiny Toon Adventures, DuckTales, Mickey Mouse, The Lion King.
The genius of Accolade was to elevate Bubsy to the status of a "classic" cartoon character. They made the Bubsy games feel like a videogame tie-in to a cartoon that was never made (outside of the pilot).I kind of like him, but I loathe the games.
I have a few questions about collecting complete sets of games.
1. If you buy a three in one, or six in one, or whatever, do you also need to to own each of the games individually, to have a complete set?
2.Do you also need to own games that were only released in a certain country?
3. Do you need to own all unlicensed games, as long as they were sold in stores?
>>2940125
1) yes
2)up to you
3)yes
>>2940125
Depends entirely on your personal preference, but I'd consider the "packs" to count as the games just for the sake of sanity.
You can buy whatever you want, m8. There's no commission of retro game collecting.
Someone broke into my house and stole my gaming collection. Not just my newer consuls but my retro stuff. I recently saw a lot of it at a retro gaming booth at the flea market this morning. I filed a police report but the flea market guy says they are part of his personal collection and we just happen to have the same games. Police seemed hesitant to do anything and generally did not care because it was "Just games".
The biggest retro losses were my copy of persona 1, earthbound, and my sealed in box Turtles in Time for the SNES.
Ever had any retro...

I've already underpriced shit as hell, but then I just remind myself it's all just plastic and none of it matters.
>>2939606
Yeah, but the idea someone would steal it from me bothers me a lot. I work hard for what I have and I am not rich. I never really show off my collection so I don't think it was someone who knew me. I think the theif just knew the value and pawned it to the flea market guy who probably did not want to take the loss and admit he bought stolen goods.
Should've written your name on the cartridges.
