Okay, I have broken my collar bone and am stuck at home for at least 6-8 weeks. I have a Mega Everdrive V2 and an SD2SNES. Recommend me some games, anon.

Been playing Axelay, but can't get past the 2nd stage. I am into pretty much every genre of retro games except puzzle games. Huge RPG fan and have lately tried to get into the good shmups.

I didn't realize a broken clavicle meant you can't use google.
>>
>>2931041

It would help if you would at least give us some idea of the kinds of games you enjoy. e.g. What genres do you normally get into? What about setting? Length? Difficulty?

Just asking for general recommendations is rather pointless. You could use Google for that, and anyone who even feels like bothering to reply to your thread is just going to dump indiscriminate lists of the most popular titles, like Chrono Trigger, FF6 and every other game everybody and their brother has already played to death.

It would also help if you insisted that people try to provide you with some details about their recommendations. Which, again, Google is probably better for. You could sort through any number of fansites that already give you comprehensive rundowns of games for every retro console and why they'd recommend them.

tl,dr - These half-assed threads are spammed on /vr/ every day. Either put some effort into it and try to meet us half-way, or learn to Google.

Y'all seem like fun people.

This was to provoke talk on fun Genesis/SNES games. Sure I could use Google, but I wanted to make a thread for different people to chime in on different games they like. Hell, my SD2SNES SD card has a folder with Game Sanctuary's Top 100 SNES games.

Go shitpost somewhere else.

Do you Guys recomend other ways to play PS1 games on the go other than the PSP

I don“t want to use my phone for it cause Touch Controls are awful

So any Suggestions?

Only options at the moment, however there are controllers that you can hook up to your phone to make it have a real controller with real buttons.

I recommend you use the fucking index

a psp go with the cradle, a power adapter for the cradle and psp go component cables. assuming you have a ps3 already then you can play ps1 games portably and on your tv through component, with a ds3 controller at home and you get top-tier emulation quality since sony made the emulation themselves.

How does virtual console stack up against hardware? Is it as flawed as any other animation? I was testing it out with Adventure Island and it seems pretty good but I don't really have a frame of reference since I never owned it on NES.

N64 emulation is pretty good. The flaws with it (mainly graphical) are minor and don't disrupt game play. Haven't tried any other systems because the homebrew Wii emulators are good enough (though I haven't tested all of the games for SNES9xGx)
>>
>>2930338

Edit for clarity: I meant to say that the N64 emulation on the Virtual Console is pretty good. I don't use the homebrew N64 emulator (Wii64/Not64) because it runs poorly.
>>
On WiiU:
NES emulation is shit. Don't buy NES games in WiiU just get hem in Wii. Horrible input lag and the Nintendo decided to add this dark blurry filter to their games.

Likewise, N64 emulation is also shit. Same reasons as the NES.

GBA emulation is pretty good. Some people say the games look dark but they also look clearer than NES games and have way less input lag.

SNES emulation is pretty damn good. It's practically identical to SNES emulation on the Wii.

All this being said don't play on the game pad with off tv play because it will add another two frames of lag.

On Wii:

NES is decent. The graphics are still dark but at least the games are playable, except for super twitch games like punchout.

SNES: also looks and plays well. There's definitely some lag but anything that is game reading like NES games in WiiU.

Genesis: Really damn good. The only major flaw is the sound quality is nowhere near as good as the Model 1 Genesis. However, the games run smoothly.

Neo Geo: Also pretty good.

TG16: haven't tried it yet. Could use some game recommendations. I know Rondo is on there but I've been to lazy to grab it yet.

I'm getting a hankering for some old MMORPGs, preferably ones that have decent sized communities (~10+ active players at any given time). Anyone know any that are still running after all these years? I'd love to get into one and just go on some adventures.

I was really digging HellMOO, but the game hasn't really added anything new in years, so I'm kind of running out of shit to do.

Staport GE? Fun game. Small community though
>>
https://www.project1999.com/

Populated EQ community, I wanted to play on it last year but never got around to it, I also know nothing about EQ so I'm not sure how difficult it would be.
>>
>>2927795
I've wasted plenty on my life on eq including the p1999 servers.

Pros: Fucking huge world to explore. You can spend 2000 hours on a char and still have parts unknown.
P1999 has the best eq community I've ever seen, including the GMs.
Zero hand-holding, you won't see quest markers telling you where to go, hell you won't see an in game map. If you want to know which direction you're facing you'll have to lvl up sense direction skill, buy a compass or cast true north.
Almost every race has their own language plus common tongue, it takes shit talking to another level.
Most players are experienced so you will avoid most of the trial and error of the early eq days. You'll be leveling in the most efficient ways possible most of the time.

Cons:
At high levels, some classes are worthless in groups.
Some classes can't solo.
Almost all of the decent loot requires a full group or raid force to procure.
Mana takes FOREVER to regen.
Most of the server population has a max level character and many have played for 10+years on other servers so new players are at a disadvantage for their first year or so of playing

I can't beat level 3. Too many Red demon guys. How the fuck is anyone supposed to beat this?

Watch videos niggas, this game is all about exploits, patterns abuse and memorization.
Also, avoid the NES port.
>>
>>2927028

I've actually gotten pretty far on the NES port. I got to level 5 before I threw in the towel. But here it's like the patterns are twice as difficult.
>>
>>2926992
By playing it twice in a row. Truly Lucifer is the greatest troll of all time in gaming, only slightly edging out Takeshi Kitano.

>the faster we can force shitty rips out of circulation
we have what we have and just because there is something new of something old doesn't mean that's what people have.
If good versions of a game are better, they will rise to the top, but
telling someone to "download a proper rip" is a pathetic excuse for inherent incompatibility.
please go and fuck yourself with this kind of feeble attempt at legitimizing a crappy emulator.
>>
>>2885234
Not the guy you are arguing with, but bin+cue/etc is considered the proper format for PS1 rips. This is because of the number of multi-track games. I use bin+cue when I use epsxe as well, since it supports it. Why would you want to use a sub-par rip?
>>
>>2885234
Your entire post is fucking retarded. If a rip doesn't work on real hardware, then it doesn't work in Mednafen is therefore shit, period.

Only crappy emulators allow broken rips like that.

So I just bought a SNES about a week ago and a game genie. I finally got some games that work for the SNES but I can't get the game genie to work. I have enclosed a picture of what my tv looks like when I plug in the game genie. If anyone can help I would gladly appreciate it.

In the last five or six years. It's steadily been going up since probably 2005 but since maybe 2011 it's fucking exploded. I would say "now is the time to sell" but honestly with all the system on a chip consoles around now and the interest in retro due to indie games, I'm beginning to think we won't be seeing prices go down anytime soon.
>>
>>2929015
Ebay pricing isn't always indicative of what you'll actually get.

Especially if you're trying to offload an entire collection, it can be hard to get what you're asking.

Sure, you could try and get 250 bucks for earthbound but its unlikely to happen.

Hey guys. I'm posting here because I desperately need help in Silent Hill.

I'm at the fight with Cybil, and unfortunately, I didn't get the red liquid that allows you to win the fight automatically. I have played the game blind up to this point.

I'm having serious trouble with this fight and I'm not having any luck finding information about it on the internet. Walkthroughs either tell me to use the liquid or to "hit her until she dies". Thanks, that's a lot of help.

The problem isn't that this fight is too difficult, it's just that she won't die no matter how many times I attack her. The last time I tried, I entered the fight with:

130 pistol bullets
30 shotgun shells
28 rifle bullets

And I fired EVERY SINGLE ONE at her. I may have missed a few shots, but not many. She still didn't fucking die. I even went at her with the hammer for a while afterward.

Am I missing something? How do I fucking kill this bitch? I'm getting really pissed. I know I'm at the end of the game and I just want to beat it. I seriously cannot figure out what to do and I can't find any information anywhere. Surely at least one of you has beat her without the red liquid! I know it's possible, because there's an separate ending for killing her!

Besides this bullshit fight, I think this is a really great game. Silent Hill 1 thread.

>>
>>2928446

Actually, isn't killing her and getting the baby the "real" ending of the game?
>>
OP here again.

Someone linked me to a Youtube video of someone killing her in about 20 rifle shots. Well, as I've mentioned, I've shot her AT LEAST 130 times with varying weaponry and she didn't die, so now I'm fearing that my game is bugged. I'm playing a ROM; I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
>>
>>2928546
I'd like to interject for a second, but actually you are playing an ISO.
