Am I simply not well adjusted to the difficulty and speed of old school fps or is this game simply really, really hard

to give some perspective I have played shadow warrior and loved every minute of it on the second to highest difficulty. same goes for Doom and Duke but this game just seems unbelievably unforgiving haha. Playing on the middle difficulty even.

Yes, it is really hard. I believe someone posted here a while back that the biggest criticisms it received when it came out was the difficulty and that the developers intended for the hardest modes to be played with co-op.

What was the best looking SNES game? Or most technically impressive, if you want to get autistic about it.
For some reason I was always impressed by the reflections in ToP. It did a lot of neat things with shadows, too.
I was always amazed at the rubber band physics in Umihara Kawase.

I still maintain that Super Mario world is timeless it its effective use of a generally simple color palette, and it remained the best looking SNES game for the first two years of that system.

Good snes games, from overrated to underrated.
The 3 Top Gear racing games were amazing games! Especially the music in these games. Very underrated series and a personal favorite of mine. Especially pic related.

My favorite meme.
Why does this game have so little platforming? Not counting rainbow ride, and the bowser levels, it seems like on every stage only the first star counts as platforming while the rest are padded with gimmicks. They almost all come down shoot yourself out of cannon, put on a green or blue hat to get the star in an obvious location, or just keep taking the same route as star one, but take a small detour (tick tock clock is literally all this).
Look at dire dire docks. Not one of the stars require you to do any platforming except for the pole jumping one.

Probably because Nintendo recognized that 3D platforming was still young and didn't want to risk looking bad by experimenting too much with the "jumping in 3D space" part.
When Street Fighter 2 first came out on SNES I remember all the big kids claiming that hadouken happens because Ken and Ryu's gesture for it rubs the wrists across each other creating friction resulting in a fireball.

Copied cheap games (with better sound and graphics) to our NES floppies, played crude games with our 14k modems or made some badass sewing with our Nintendo Sewing machine.

Phantasia (gba port or snes translation, both are great) and Eternia are my favorites. Didn't really like Destiny but it's been quite a while since I've played it.
Phantasia has a really long bonus dungeon though,with very few save points. It really sucks if you die.
Currently actually playing the non retro Zestiria and Xillia. Z in particularly hardly even feels like a Tales game with its ugly 'Armatization' and weird combat system . I miss 2D.
Phantasia is the only Tales game I actually enjoyed. I haven't played all of them, though.

It was great for its time, but constant delays really hurt it. Nowadays it's very outdated, old tech. There isn't much else comparable in the pocket PC department though. There is a successor in the works called the Pyra, but it's looking to be too expensive to be worth it.

I never owned an N64, hating on it and feeling PlayStation was king at the time.. I finally bought some VC games like Mario 64 and I still dont see the draw, what you say guys?
The N64 has the biggest innovative and defining games.
Mario 64 which is still and probably always will be the gold standard for moving a character in a 3d environment.
OoT which established how to target in a 3d environment.
Plus, they are amazing games.
Honestly if you can’t like either of those games you probably don’t like video games.
It had a small handful of really good first party games but ultimately it's library falls massively short of its competition. Mario and Zelda really are very good though.
But don't let anyone try and tell you Rare's collectathons or horrid FPS games are any good.

i'm normally an emulator fag but i never had a gb pocket growing up and always wanted one (had a red play it loud). thinking about buying a modded one with backlight for funsies when i'm sitting around bored in bed or something.

Final Fantasy Legend 1 and 2 are fantastic 3 is decent
Final Fantasy Adventure is pretty good
Pokemon Red/Blue even though a little broken in that gen is still a great game.
