nope, idiot.

btw i'm just gonna play the psx version with mednafen. just gonna press -ffw like a pro when the loading screens appear.

About two weeks ago, my scumbag junkie cousin ran away from home; she stole my old NES and game cartridges and sold them all for drug money. I don't feel like finding her or tracking down my old stuff, but now I really miss some of my old games (like Zelda, Zelda II, Megaman, etc.). I have a 3ds, and I'm thinking about downloading some retro titles off the eshop. Does anyone know if it's any good? Are there any common bugs/errors with the Virtual Console titles?

Virtual console is exactly like cartridge. Why are you letting your female cousin cuck you anon? Find her and beat the fuck out of her.

So there are no real issues with the games then? Also, I can't stand the bitch. She'd been staying at my apartment for about a month because my gf is one of those people who believes in second chances and all that nonsense. After she bailed, we found out that she stole my box of old games and a bunch of jewellery and clothes from my gf's closet. We called the cops but they couldn't really do anything about it. I'm just glad she's gone.

Kekekek.

Listening to Link's Awakening OST right now. Not the super-best of the Zelda series, but has some gems. What's /vr/'s favorite tracks in this game?

Tal Tal Heights seems like the easy answer, but Southern Face Shrine is my top spot.

that song that plays when you go looking for your sword!
>>
>>2888678

According to my MP3 listing, that one is just "Koholint Island". Then you get the sword and afterwards "Overworld" plays.

Here's a playthrough that showcases that transition.

Dream Shrine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNeQ-72KwEQ

Southern Face Shrine is my favorite, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py0IVtf621Q

Are there similar retro compilations of Nintendo titles?

Also, good retro compilation suggestions. Pic related is supposed to be pretty good.

Stuff like this is pointless, it's basically just paying for emulation.
>>
Not to my knowledge. They're happy to charge you $10 per title separately.

As for other retro compilations, I just got Konami MSX Ultra Pack on the Saturn and it's very nice. 30 games on one disc, some of them quite good!
>>
They made some fucking lazy Mario and Kirby compilations for the Wii.

Happy New Year /vr/! What are your gaming resolutions this year? What are you planning to finally play or beat?
30 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
My gaming resolution is to try to stick as hard to retro games as possible, and really learn and understand more about emulation and older titles. Also, to try keeping a record of what I play so I can stay on track and not just load a ROM, play for two minutes and never do it again.

Also, to see if it's actually possible to play JPN titles with working Japanese knowledge like some anons say. I'm gonna try to play a Japanese (text intensive) game even if I have to sit with a dictionary translating line by line. Hoping that this is a decent way to learn some things.

Why would they make Fallout 2 literally unbeatable at this part? Are there any mods to make this part actually beatable?

>There's a new version of Yabause from japanese developper Devmiyax, based on his recent android port uoYabause. This version is a great improvement from original Yabause, on par with SSF and even better on some games.

>On my machine (2500k @ 4.0GHz, GTX 970), I was able to get 60fps in every 2D game I tried, and 40-50fps in the 3D games I tried in software mode. If I switch to OpenGL, I get 60fps in everything, but there are graphical bugs, and there's no way to increase the size of the window without increasing the internal rendering resolution.

Right?

I have. They're shit

Started re-playing Knights of Xentar/Dragon Knight III and I'm really enjoying the combination of old school JRPG and random sleaze.

The writing is actually funny at times. And it's only as a grown-ass man that I've picked up on the reference of the rich guy in the first village, "Frump", who lives in "Frump Tower". What a doozy!

Are there any similar games available in english? Any old games that have been fan translated recently?

Also sleazy retro games in general, I guess.

Literally starting naked is a nice way to make fun of RPG tropes. The villagers have some interesting reactions to that.

Why do people dislike this again?
I mean,it's clearly inferior to it's predecessors but it still wasn't a cash abomination like that playstation game.

Basically never, not the way you're thinking anyway. The level files and engine that leaked earlier this year were a fucking mess, not near anything worth playing. There's a guy working on a playable reinterpretation of it in an all-new modern engine that looks fantastic. You can check out the difference in this video

Hello /vr/,
another thread about autism and the aspect ratio of NES and SNES.
We all know that 8:7 is not the aspect ratio displayed by the real console.
My problem or rather confusion is the following:
In Retroarch I play with Aspect Ratio provided by the core, which is 4:3.
Now if you tick or untick the option "crop overscan" the image will get stretched differently.
Without overscan cropping it's 1280x960px and with it's 1196x896px.

Which one is the right one? Or is it a completely different one? This question goes for NES and SNES.
