When is it cheating to use a turbo function, and when is it just plain good sense?
In shmups that don't have turbo as standard, probably always.
That doesn't stop me though. If there was a way to keep the game as difficult as intended without pressing hundreds of times a minute, I'd go with that, but for now I'd rather not have RSI.
>>3203735
>I'd rather not have RSI
Seconded. Who gives a fuck if you're just playing by yourself?
>>3203752
Kinda ruins some games
Anyone use Fightcade? It has a pretty active community.
Even at this time, people are playing KoF 98.
>>3203586
Where is the new version with snes games added to the active list
>>3203592
They're making that? I would play the shit out of TMNT Tournament Fighters online.
Can we all agree Hammer Bros are jerks?
https://youtu.be/jyeGXxtK-Mw
I can't take this video seriously at all, I can't stop laughing someone has a puppet YouTube channel......I like it.
GIT GUD.
Been a while since I worried about Hammer Bros. in old SMB, but in not-retro Mario Maker, I typically stand close to one, wait for the three hammer throw, then quickly jump on it.
Any Syphon Filter lovers here? I replayed it recently and it's every bit as good as i remember it. People always call it ghetto Metal Gear or shit but i think that's really undeserved, the combination of heavy stealth missions and run 'n' gun action is impeccable. Also it's one hell of an achievement considering it's made by people who made Bubsy 3d.

Good magazine adverts too.
I liked how the targeting worked in the series.
The SF trilogy is great, I play it all the time, it's a thousand times better than modern shooters.
>>3203210
A poor man's Metal Gear that has become completely forgotten as a franchise.
King's Quest is a series without a single good game.
>>3202808
You're right, they're pretty awful. The only value is nostalgia. But at the time the first few were unique, ground-breaking, immersive and all sort of other things.
In 30 years there will be kids online saying how the Elder Scrolls series had no good games.
>>3203823
In 30 years time maybe Bethesda can do ladders
What are some AESTHETIC retro games?
This game is the literal definition of aesthetic.
>>3202580
Lsd dream emulator
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACNPxKhxAjM
It doesn't get any more aesthetic than this.
are these ports worth a damn?
it's a lot cheaper than getting the originals.
Loading Times.
>>3202232
They're great, almost no loading times.
Highly recommend.
>>3202232
If you're a purist you'd probably want to play the SNES releases - the loading times and FMVs on the PSX are brutal.
If you're not a purist you should probably be emulating anyways.
Whatcha playin' /vr/?
>>3201406
The other night I was playing R-Type on the original cabinet. I cleared stage 4 for the first time, and actually made it through those first 4 stages on one life. Then stage 5 came and annihilated my anus.
>>3201406
TwinBee
I still don't understand everything about the power up system
but if I ask some dickhead will call me a retard
Also Galaga, that is a great game, and Space Invaders
>>3201440
I don't remember exactly now but you want to keep shooting the bells until they get red, silver or multicolored.
One of these gives you a shield, another gives you a triple shot and another gives you a shadow powerup that multiplies your shots by 3 when you're moving.
You can't have both the triple shot and the shadow, once you get one of them, the other bell will stop coming.
If you keep shooting the bells they will eventually turn into a bee, don't shoot the be and grab it instead...

Is there a way out yet to possibly use plug-ins to make SNES emulators have better graphics or maybe HD roms that are out? I love my SNES games, but would like to see some round edges.
>>3201091
sure kiddo just turn on them beautiful "HD" filters in snes9x
>>3201120
I don't use that emulator.
I saw that the n64 emulators had an option for HD graphics plug-ins, so I tried them for OoT. I saw zero difference.
>>3201091
Play the games on real hardware and a CRT TV. They'll look 10x better than on emulators.

Sorry man, I got nut'n.
I'm doing a goddamn ghoul run on Shadowrun for the Genesis, and for some reason, the game isn't counting the ghouls I've killed.
I'm a hand to hand samurai, is there some bug with unarmed kills not counting or something? I can't find anything online that suggest the quest bugs. It's the one from Gunderson in the Redmond Barrens.
Shadowrun thread too if anyone is interested.
I have never had that issue. I always turn down those jobs if the pay is shit and keep asking till he offers more though.
>>3200657
Yeah, I've been doing that on jobs. I'm just at a point where I can bareknuckle box a few gargoyles and vamps, so I figure I could pull some more money by doing the ghoul runs.
I finally found on RPG Shrine that it's a bug, but it seems to happen to me everytime on my Samurai. I don't have the issue when I use magic on the Shammy.
>>3200387
>>3200663
After doing some testing, I believe it is a bug with killing ghouls using spurs. Kills with guns are counted, kills with hands / spurs are not.
Oh well, guess I'll start my sammy over.
Lo Wang, Caleb, or Dook?
Dook > Caleb > Lo Wang
The correct answer is Leonard & Bubba.
I choose Adam Randall

Has anyone here tried builidng their own cartridges?
>>3198120
Like...repros? Yes. Very simple. You just need to have some soldering skills.
>>3198120
yes
>>3198128
I've been thinking about getting into it, but don't know where to start.
