Anyone know how to compile Project 64 from source? The already-compiled installer comes with malware that you have to opt-out of, and I don't truely trust that you can *really* opt-out of it. This can be avoided by compiling Project 64 yourself. Unfortunately, I have zero experience compiling anything in Windows (only limited experience in Linux using make files).
i think 1.7 is better than 2 with our without the malware
Download VS Community edition, I suppose. Or maybe you need GCC. Either way, google compiling software on windows.

Just install it you sperg lord. You can opt out just fine.
Did limits and restrictions make old games better?
Not in every aspect, but often limitations meant perfecting your skills, doing your best even if there were limits, molding yourself to it.
That was the philosophy of many legendary game designers like Tokuro Fujiwara.
Some limits are better. For example, when fighting games made the transition to 3D graphics, they largely became much less animated and fun to look at. We'll never get another game with the variety of Darkstalkers or MvC2, even.
I got my cock stuck in a nintendo 64 cartridge what do i do ? Blow it ?
Opinions on Cory Arcangel's Super Mario Clouds?
I really think you should go away
I don't understand what you're asking.
i just know him as the guy who made that video of that guy who wrote a perl script to order pizzas from the command line
Started playing this recently and really enjoying it, but using epsxe for it is making my piss boil. What other emulator would ye guys recommend.
I don't recommend emulators, for I am not a fucking faggot.

Play the vastly superior PSP version. No load times, better menus, higher resolution, no slowdown and it adds in the saturn extras. It truly is the best version of the game. It's called Dracula X Chronicles
>>3249445
You'll need to unlock SOTN by finding the game icon in Dracula X as its not immediately available.
Anyone have any memories with getting those magnifiers/lights back in the day? It really did improve the gameboy experience quite a bit, as dated as it looks.
Was there ever such a thing for the Game Gear too? Everyone knows the TV tuner of course.
I remember feeling like the joystick was a big help for Link's Awakening, and or course playing in the dark while your parents were sleeping was a huge novelty back then, but in retrospect it was kind of a trashy peripheral. I soon moved on to just using the Worm Light exclusively.
>>3248968
How much did that behemoth weigh? Never used it back in the day.
>>3248968
yeah, the official one was the super/wide gear. and the super was fully shrouded, there were a few third party lens only ones. there was also the battery pack, and the power back.

Have you introduced any cool retro games to your children or younger relatives, /vr/?
Been showing my kids these great games forever. My son loves and has demolished yoshis island, we also play games like Crash Bash, Worms, Bomberman and Tekken!
It's not retro but I found what I thought was going to be shitty rayman-branded shovelware, but instead turned out fun as fuck as far as a family game. It's called Rayman Arena on PS2, there are equal number racing and shooting stages but the racing stages are a fucking blast. All on foot runni g, jumping and fucking with the other racers and tons of clever short cuts. Me, my wife and 2 kids play this...

I introduced my (now 11 year old) niece to the original Sonics and debatably retro original Animal Crossing.
>>3248691
I introduced the kid I babysit to them, he ended up becoming the kind of spoiled brat who begged his parents to get him every different revision of the OoT cart off eBay, and he hasn't even finished playing that game.
I created a monster
besides harvest moon, what are the comfiest psx games?

Intelligent qube
The eeriest yet most beautiful puzzler out there. Running around on some huge puzzling monolith floating in a seemingly endless sea of blackness while an orchestra swells and crashes in the background. I could play this game for eternity even though I suck and always die on level 5.
Also, Jumping Flash and Treasures of the Deep.
Saw this about a cyberpunk arcade in Japan that got its aesthetics from Kowloon Walled City: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_2KgQOqzBc
This got me thinking about other unique arcades that were different from the typical Chuck E Cheese and amusement park fare.. Anyone encounter arcades that deviated from the norm to share? Arcade general, too.
>>3248563
That's seriously impressive.
beautiful place. If that's what it takes to have a modern arcade, so be it
>>3248563
Quality post, OP. Richfag arcades are probably the best place to find custom themes.

Can you explain what gives you problems?
I for one recently played a scenario which I think is called Shadow Valley. I just couldn't make an army big enough to advance quickly to secure castles. So I'm looking foe some tips for that scenario?

What are your honest thoughts of Doom 64?
>>3246001
Better than Doom 1-2 and Final Doom.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udjDdj4bcE0
It's my favorite vanilla Doom game.
>>3246001
I prefer 1 and 2 but 64's still a fine game.I'm honestly surprised that the new game is implying 64 is canon, I had always figured it wouldn't be.
All your opponents are dead at the end.Even the cute ones. I hope you feel good about yourself.
