2 > 3 > 6 > 1 > 4 > 5
This is objective fact
>>3123423
pls enough with these threads. these are getting old. same with the 'how were you supposed to know'. If you like /vr/, just don't.
sage
I never understood all the hate for 5.
Also 4 is my favorite one.
>>3123457
Honestly, I don't even remember why I hate 5. I guess that's kinda the problem.
I can remember certain stages in 4 that made be dislike it but I don't think I can even name a single robot master from 5.
Discuss games that are so poorly documented that they might as well not exist. Bonus points if you've actually played them.
There was a PC myst-style first person puzller that was based on the Charlie Sheen movie "The Arrival". You played as Charlie Sheen and have to escape from this big spooky space station. I owned it around 1996. It came in a double cd jewel case with 3 or 4 discs. I have only been able to track down one picture of the box art. I don't think that there are even any images of gameplay anywhere. I would love to play it again, or just see some screenshots,
>>3093983
Amazon's got some copies for a good price.
>>3093983
Since i watched the movie i was looking for that game the other day and there's literally nothing.
It was actually good?
Been playing some of this recently and going through some older Genesis games.
It's honestly not very fun. I really hope the Genesis actually has some enjoyable games that don't just feel like tapping B and going through the motions.
>don't just feel like tapping B and going through the motions.
All genesis games are like that, I suggest dropping them altogether.
>>3132783
Fuck, really?
I know the guy that did most of the art for this game, anyone want me to get him to post here?
I've been receiving random old video game related things from family members for some time now, and I've got 6 Playstations that have been lying around forever, what do I do with these? I don't really wanna just clean/sell them.
mod chip them
then sell them.
Maybe keep the good ones with the rca inputs on the back
Play video games on them?
>>3124836
Looks like junk to me.
Did Nintendo have Gunpei Yokoi murdered?
IT'S A MYSTERY.jpg
yea p. much desu senpai
>>3123805
No. Gunpei didn't leave the company right after the Virtual Boy, he left in 1996 after designing the Game Boy Pocket which was the last project he worked with. He felt he should stay with the company longer even though he had already had plans to leave, since he felt he owed it to the company to design at least one more successful product to make up for the Virtual Boy's failure. Also he wasn't fired from the company, he resigned.

Quake

Half Life

Unreal

>Quake vs Quake mod vs Unreal
>>3130119
Half life was too slow and had mostly boring weapons, Quake's environments were too dull and the polygons look like shit
Unreal is the only option here

>If my goal were simply to create the most well-loved emulator by the largest amount of people possible, I would have had to have ceased development around bsnes v073. If my goal were to create the ideal "accurate but still usable" emulator, I'd have to stop development today.

too bad he cant program a good ui to save his life.
>>3128252
Wasn't his original goal for bsnes to be the most accurate SNES emulator, which he gave up on when he found it was too hard?
>>3128267
>programming emulator UIs
Just write a libretro core and leave the UIs to the specialists
why is this so hard?
>>3126889
sound and video playback are very differently. One of the trickiest issues when emulating is syncing audio and image. One of the trickiest issues when recording video is syncing audio and video. You're asking for both to work really well together
serious
ho to make a fucking clean gameplay?
what game are you wanting to record
Let's have a thread for the best 3D platforming series ever: Crash Bandicoot.
Which one is your favorite in the series?

Throwaway ps garbage on level with Sonic, Gex, Croc, Spyro and Bubsy
It's funny how gans of these games decry nintendo, yet these games all desperately chase Miyamoto's tale in an attempt to reproduce brilliance

5>2>1>3>4 for me.
Also, whatever became of that new game they were talking about a few months ago?
>>3127904
why the FUCK is this god damn game so expensive used, holy shit, i got super mario 64 for $10 and can't find this bullshit anywhere for under $30. also, spyro 1 thread.
spyro is by far the best 3d platformer for PS1. crash can get fucked.
Artificial inflation.

Oi u cheeky kunt, u better shut ur gabber m8
what went right?
Pretty much everything.
Marketing
the lack of a rewarding social reality.
So, coming off from FFV, this game was disappointing. There's barely anything that's "secret" or hidden aside a few useless characters that the game makes you look for all over again later. You just learn magic through summons, every character can learn anything so no customization at all and there's no superbosses. Why do people think this is absolutely amazing?
FFV is the best of the pre-3D FFs
Come at me
>>3120918
No one claims that the gameplay is better than FFV. Where VI succeeds is in its presentation of the story, and while I agree that V is the better game there's definitely a lot to appreciate about VI in its own right.
>>3120918
>There's barely anything that's "secret"
There's loads of optional equipment and espers, what are you talking about?
The games character building is tied to your equipment, accessories and how you use espers. It's different from the job system and arguably worse but it's not comparable to the strict roles of 4 and saying there's nothing hidden is an outright lie.
>there's no superbosses
This is unfortunately...

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.

Daily reminder that Shantae is extremely overrated.
>>3116857
Cool. I'll experiment with it myself when I have finished this Mega Amp mod I'm working on for a genesis I'm selling on ebay.
Looks pretty good so far (just S-video modded). Much less likely to offend anyone like my personal system would (RCA jacks drilled in the back).
I know this is a bad place to ask, but what does /vr/ think? Would people pay more for it if I put some RCA jacks on the back for stereo audio and composite video so you didn't need a special cable?
Can we have a Gen 4 and under spooky games thread?
I'll open with the first game to actually frighten me when I was a kid. Splatterhouse was some pretty solid shit.
