I'm looking for something on SNES or Genesis akin to Elder Scrolls Arena. I want to explore(preferably in first person) and go on a sprawling adventure. I'm not sure if anything on those systems exist, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

This series caught my interest, but its obscurity and lack of translation made it very difficult to catch on in the west. Anyfan can give some background info on the game or the changes made in the remakes?
Also the image is very deviant from the other games in the series in terms of theme, just saying.

The only Far East of Eden product to leave Asia was the fighting game on the Neo Geo, as far as everything else goes they didn't even try to bring it over. Far East of Eden like many things, just wouldn't sell enough to warrant localization and it's already about something incredibly niche. I'm not saying it doesn't have it's appeal but that's usually a warning...

Guess you're right, it mostly comes down to appeal. The series seems to depend on a lot of Eastern lore and references, which most people either don't know of (me included) or it's not to their taste.
Also I miss Goemon.

This game was much better than FFT. Fight me.
I agree. But you set the bar low because FFT was a horseshit, boring game.
This game didn't have as much strategic elements. Positioning became almost irrelevant, as archers and ranged attacks were always available to the opposing force, as they typically had the high ground, while being unavailable to your team. Other than that one complaint, it was good. I don't think as good as FFT, though. FFT was challenging, but you still had the opportunity to set up advantageous positions more frequently, even if not all the time. In Vandal Hearts I rarely got to use archers to do anything. Mages weren't terribly useful, either. You were lucky...

I love Vandal Hearts. My only gripe is that the Monk/Ninja and the Guardsman/Dragoon classes were pretty useless. I wish more games would implement units like the Hawknights/Airmen.

VCR + Composite to USB PC playback recorder.
Elgato game capture HD is really affordable and idiot-proof. I like the video quality, but if the signal drops it stops recording unlike a DV deck or something like that.

This is from a Roxio vhs to dvd usb capture card, over s-video. The card accepts 480i video only, giving lower res games a blurry look.

Star Master is pretty good.
It's a Star Raiders clone for the 2600, but I think it's better than the actual 2600 port of Star Raiders was.

Yeah when I play Star Raiders on my 5200 I'm blown away because I actually enjoyed Star Raiders quite a bit back in the day on VCS and the 5200 version is SO much better. Check out this similar game on MSX-LD

I've never been a fan of Activision's computer games. Something about their aesthetic doesn't appeal to me and it's also aged worse than many other game devs of that time.
in my country we have a market were people sell games for nes, snes, n65, ps1... for the same price e.g, all snes games are $7 or less, gameboy $5, n64 $12 and so on, you can find games worth $60-100 for that price, but that also applies for shitty games that you can find for $2 or less
well the thing is...i bought a snes just to play the rpg on the system, the thing is, I haven't found any, found castlevania iv ($15) but that one doesn't count right? I dont buy games on ebay or anything thats too expensive.

1) It's not technically feasible on a reasonable budget, for some reason
2) They will at some point in the future, and just haven't gotten around to it

about 6 years ago Sonic and Knuckles lock-on stopped reading my sonic 2 cart. It gets past the TMSS screen and just hangs.
S&K alone as well as SK+Sonic 3 work just fine.

I've been messing around with the DC again this week and have a question about its noises.
I have 2, one was heavily used in the days of Utopia, particularly swapping to NTSCJ discs. This one doesnt want to run backup games about 45%, unreal refuses to start in it. I probably fucked it up with all the swapping. Is this fixable? It loads stuff like SA1 and Virtual On fine every time.
The 2nd one has barely been used, it's from 99, and was put in a closet before the DC's lifespan was even over. This boots games 100% of the time, but the noise it makes...

You have to replace the laser assembly. No clue why if the one you had was just sitting in a closet since 99, must have gotten shaken up or messed with in that time period.

I've come across a few legendary machines and played them. My favorite two of these would have to be "Captain Fantastic", the pinball machine staring Elton John as The Pinball Wizard from the Who's "Tommy", and Bobby Orr's "Power Play".
To me, it's just not a legendary table unless it's still mechanical.
