Time for a Douk thread. I just noticed how Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition had been removed from steam due the publisher having their contract run out. What a shame.
At least now I have Duke 1, 2, 3D(classic), Megaton, and Manhattan Project on my account.

They don't pay seller fees on shipping.
>>
>>3107753
The shipping is so obviously a dumbass way for them to make a huge profit on an item that's only worth like 40 dollars.

It's really fucking irritating.
>>
>>3107756
You can report listings like that and eBay will ban the fuck outta the seller. It's a violation of their policy for sellers to try to circumvent fees by making the shipping costs outrageous.

I've been missing my Xperia play so I'm thinking about picking up a psp go. Tell me a better idea to fill my handheld emulation void.
19 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
The PSP go has become surprisingly expensive. If you want to use a PSP to emulate you're better off getting a cheaper 3k model
>>
I have a psp go for that exact purpose, and it is fuckin nice to just pick up and play some PS1/gameboy games. I really enjoy it, I got it a year and a half ago for like 50 bucks though.
>>
There are no emulation general on the catalog so I'll ask my stupid question here :

Are rom files getting modified / altered in any way while playing, putting it in a sd card, an emulator, ... anything? I'm asking because my toaster doesn't have much disk space so I'd like to know whether I should keep the .rar of rom files I download or not.

"And instead of expending precious development resources on portability, BWS is designed exclusively for Microsoft Windows. This allows an optimal experience for the operating system used by the majority of PC users.

Furthermore, for personal, security, and competitive reasons, the source code to BWS will not be released to the public. But you can trust me that my emulator is very accurate. Nobody writes more accurate emulators than me. I may have benefited from public documentation and others' help on the WonderSwan to create BWS, but nobody said I had to share my work in return. So please don't ask for source code. It's mine; all mine. You can't have it."

My sonic 3 cart no longer saves games. I read that you could request a free sample of basically the "modern" version of the 1994 chip from the same company that made them then. The issue is that it's longer than the old one and does not fit.

Can I rig up a new save RAM or should I just shell out for a new sonic 3 cart?

Maybe try to mount it to the backside. May be a bitch trying to solder that though.
Trying to connect wires to the legs would probably be a bad idea. Don't think there's much room in Genesis cart anyway for mounting the chip somewhere else.

dev pranks thread?

I genuinely got a laugh out of hearing about the pranks the mortal kombat guys pulled back in the day, Rain is honestly my favorite because they made an entire character with ai to only appear in the arcade version's attract mode. Just to make people frantically search for ways to unlock him.

My uncle really DID work for Nintendo back in the day. He worked at a help hotline and used to give me free hints for NES games whenever we'd meet up at Christmastime. He's the reason I was able to get past the Dam in TMNT.

Video games would never become huge and marketed to the lowest common denominator retard that should be holding a dvd remote instead of a controller.

Any ntsc-u racers with the depth of gt2 out there? Doesn't have to be licensed cars or even cars. Has to have upgrades/adjustments and sim-like physics.

PC sims of any age, there are sims released in 90's that carry incredible amount of immersion because color palette, textures and models somehow pull you straight in the 90's much more than any modern game can regardless of mod.
On psx the absolutely best one was TOCA WTC, it has weather effects, day/night cycle, realistic damage and physics (we are talking home console of the 2k realistic)

dumb newfag would like to know what /vr/ thinks is better. I am halfway through re1 and having a good time and never played sh1 but i herd that sh has a better story. What do you guys think?
65 posts and 12 images submitted.

it's stupid to compare the two. they're completely different games.

SH does have a better story, though.
>>
>>3105871
>it's stupid to compare the two.

No it is not. They are both survival horror games with similar gameplay styles. They even have similar cinematic camera angles. One is just static while the other moves.

It's really tough for me to say OP. SH1 is without a doubt way scarier. It has the scariest music in the series. RE1 is so iconic. Pretty much popularized the genre. Has infamous voice acting that is so bad it becomes good. Very memorable game especially if you experienced it back then. If you are playing the DC version you even get the better auto aiming. Mansion is great fun to explore. SH1's town is also fun to explore. Much more dangerous when in the town as well. Very fast enemies that you are better off running from then fighting.

I like them both so much that I might have to say it's a draw.

Anyone ever find a guide that covers some of the specifics of the Metal Slug series? (or any of the main four games).

Weapon damage would be a good example of what i am talking about. Can't seem to find much information about this. I have always wanted to know if all enemies take the same level of damage or if some have more/less armor towards bullets vs explosives (doubt this happens but sometimes i wonder) Also trying to find out if there is a "cap" on the amount of damage an enemy can take at once. It feels like if i toss 6 grenades very quickly at a vulnerable boss the damage that results is less than if i were to toss em a little slower. The amount of damage done with a direct shell from the slug cannon vs hitting an enemy with the explosion plume is another curiosity.

I feel like i saw a damage chart 8-10 years ago on this Metal Slug fan-site, it was the largest of them all at the time. Almost positive it was called something like metalslugarsenal.(jp, kr or ru). Can't seem to find the actual name or an archive.

Regardless, Metal Slug thread.

Nope, the girls are the best because you can see their butt when they're killed by acid.

>Walking around the (presumably) intro area
>Doing alright, even though enemies are tough to kill and hit like a ton of bricks I learned dodging was better
>Get hit by a ball, -65% health

>luckily there's a weak enemy a little walk to the right
>Go to pick up the health I desperately need
>Warp to pic related

I mean there could have been a trapdoor sprite or something. To fuck you with a dungeon that hard so early in the game is crazy.

Deadly Towers doesn't fuck around, if the manual is any indication.

>dungeon entrances are invisible
>so are entrances to a trapdoor parallel dimension
>so are the exits from that trapdoor parallel dimension
>dungeons consist of 200-something rooms

It's fucking insane, I love Zelda 1 but I don't know if I'm anywhere near hardcore enough to beat this game.

This game frequently shows up on "worst NES games" or "worst video games of all time" lists. For good reason, in my opinion. Though it's statements like that which only makes /vr/'s contrarianism shine, so have it guys. Convince me that Deadly Towers is fine and I'm just a pleb.
