Post games with hidden/alternative/advanced control options.

Shinobi 3 has a hidden 6 button control mode.

Does it just add a block and melee button?
>>
>>2813584
While the 6 button control scheme made playing the game better(manual blocking, sword, etc) it also made an already somewhat simple game even easier. Which is why I'm guessing they left it as a "secret".

Since I found out about it(which was only a couple years back) I only play using the 6 button configuration but set the game on the highest difficulty. It's still piss easy tho.

What, nothing about the music? Did people realize that both soundtracks have amazing original tunes and thus it is impossible to prefer one over the other?

I'm pretty fond of the shmup level in Gunstar Heroes.

Unless I don't have the lightning saber. Doing this level on a difficulty above normal without it (or the chaser fireball if you're really good with it) is so difficult that I just restart until I get it.

The homing weapons are useless on Expert mode.
>>
>>2812718
The only good weapons in the game regardless of difficulty are the lightsaber and homing+flame.

I am getting the urge to finally complete (maybe perfect) some of the older FF games (1-5 and maybe 6), and I know by now probably all of them have had portable remakes. Having played the originals already, do you folks think it's worth trying out the newer versions, or just stick to the classic retro versions? On paper, the remakes should be the way to go, but I just get this feeling that they will be completely weird to play, not to mention losing some of the aesthetic that made the originals so charming ("These are pirates for chrissakes!"). However, new side-dungeons, no save bugs, more efficient menus and all that stuff sounds appealing.

Let me know what you think

Go with your feelings. Just play whatever you want. The joy of gaming comes from discovering things on your own.

Are you Yoda or something? Just give a fucking rec, or shut STFU. What you posted is totally worthless. It's like someone asking you what your favorite brand of pickles are, and you're like "just eat the ones that taste best to you..." It's moronic and you should fucking feel bad for contributing nothing at all to even this, a fucking WORTHLESS topic.

What is /vr/'s stance on Let's Plays?

Are there any good Youtubers who focus on retro games?
Is there any audience for those kind of videos?

I liked deceased crab suffering through la mulana, but after I played the game I am annoyed I ruined the game for myself.

On the other hand I'm glad he introduced me to it, and I beat the older version too. (but I never finished hell temple.)

He's sucked lately though.

I used to watch AVGN too, but he really did go downhill a lot.

I wouldn't argue with anyone saying face cams are cancer and virtually all the channels are crap, but I do watch them sometimes.

"Let's Play" is what I say to someone when we're actually going to fucking play something.

They should call those videos "Let's fucking watch somebody else play"s

Its the Sega Saturns birthday today!

Do any of you have memories of this system from years ago, or has it always been just a curious oddity that you would read about in the battle between N64 and PS1?

I ended up getting a Saturn about a year ago just to play fighters megamix and it's been one of my favorite consoles ever since.
Even though most of the console game ports to the Saturn were trash I still think it had some good exclusives and arcade ports

G-tier super nes games.

Old PC hardware or virtualachine and dosbox?
Why??

Vacuum tubes were a bitch.
>>
>>2810932
Depends, I like old hardware outside of video games, so I prefer orignal hardware but when I just want to play a dos game, DOSBOX way easier.
>>
>>2810932
What are you more likely to enjoy?

A physical old machine may add some nostalgia to playing the games, but seriously, it's old PC hardware. It wasn't that special, and those games work perfectly fine in DOSBOX. If anything, you'd want a CRT attached to a normal, modern computer.

Your most memorable /vr/ sound effect?

Mine would have to be the "whoo" noise the enemy cannon fodder make in the Spider-Man arcade game. You could hear it so distinctly over all of the other arcade cabinets. Hell, you could hear it over everyone bowling.

Has anyone had any experience with these replacement sticks? I want to get some replacements for my controllers, but I'm torn between getting the 'normal' style or the 'gamecube' style.

I'm not sure if I want to be a purist and go for the normal style, or if I want the comfort of using the gamecube style thumbstick (perhaps that will be easier to use it for certain mario party minigames that require you to rapidly rotate the thumbstick).

Are there any issues I should look out for? I hear that there are some sensitivity issues with these sticks. For example, the replacement sticks can be too sensitive for Goldeneye, or that it can be harder to do smash attacks in Super Smash Bros.

What's your opinion /vr/?

I got those replacement PCBs from the German guy for the GCN style sticks.

Flawless.
>>
I have a GameCube styled stick on one of my controllers. I haven't had any issues with it. I did have to get used to the new sensitivity, but once I did, my high score in starfox 64 rose a bit, and I got better at the Zelda shooting minigames.

tl;dr I like my replacement stick.
>>
I got a pair of the original styled replacements and outside of having a loose wiring issue which was easily fixed, they've worked just as well as the original
