How do you feel about early (mid-80's to early 90's) 3D games on consoles, can you still play and enjoy them now despite the low framerate, resolution and crappy input lag?
I can still enjoy Starfox, but then I played that as a kid so it nay be nostalgia talking.
I never saw a problem with Starfox framerate, I had greater problems playing some 3D games in slideshows during my 486 years
I can't think of many outside Star Fox that I feel fondness for. I think Star Fox SNES was a well made game trying to push the boundaries of it's system and I can admire it for that reason.
If we're talking Star Fox though my preference on it is for the N64, and that might be MY Nostalgia talking but I think the original is pretty good.
Star fucks is downright unplayable in the harder route and even if they somehow could have fixed the framerate it still feels underwhelming next to sega's super scaler shooters.
64 is brilliant though, love that game.

Out of curiosity why do people really like KOF 98? I know it's heralded by a lot of people as SNK's best fighter but why is it?
More balanced, more characters. Same as 2002.

Mostly it's large roster. It was a "dream match" year which meant it didn't follow the storylines of the earlier games and was more of a catch all of most of the characters all thrown together. There are a lot of characters and many of them have alternate control schemes with other moves which are versions from earlier games.
Also many characters were really powerful that year and in '99 a lot of them got nerfed.

More balanced than what? OG 98 isn't very well balanced, 98UM is Krauser n' friends. I don't think it was until 98UMFE that we got a fairly balanced game? I might be wrong.
I personally think that FE is one of the best fighters ever made (my favourite ever being VF2, or Final Showdown).

The roster was great and huge
Beautiful looking backgrounds and character design
Fast and tight gameplay
Extra mode and Advanced mode worked well (in UM onwards at least), and hasn't been done since
Music is phenomenal, one of the best ost for a fighter ever IMO
Lots of great little details, like teammates in the background reacting to the fight, personalised intros and lots of victory poses.
I absolutely adore the games.

I don't believe for a second that people were actually THAT disappointed by this game. Most 2600 games are nonsensical squares with bleeps and bloops, except for the simplest of games.

Why do people say this game is hard? All you have to do is know the basic hit box (which is about the middle-long-end of the sword) and all enemies take 1 hit to defeat).... All jumps are easy...

Other than that and the last bosses, this game is easy as fuck.. a simple platformer.. Although excellent IMO...
As a platformer.. for its originality, i would still give it 9/10-10/10...

Holy fuck... This part is hard... Anybody got any shortcuts... I usually just do a small jump then hope to attach to the lower end of the left wall, then its easy sailing... Ive lost 6,000+ lives on this part..
Game is easy up until 6-2. Then it starts to get annoying. Gets worse when you get sent back to 6-1 when you fuck up on any of the bosses.

Well, better fightan is a matter of preference, really, as is better girls, but at least SF's girls actually look like actual women instead of transvestites and lolis, no offense if that's what you're into.
KOF easily.
In terms of designs and just overall better female fighters. Mature and Vice were fun as fuck to play as.

ITT: Pointless sections/areas that kill the flow of their game.
It wasn't really pointless, you had to go throught there to get to the Sector.
Also, most of the monsters there had great drops and steal.

Not OP, but you're right about the items thing. It felt kinda needlessly tedious...I dunno about killing the flow, I think it had a nice atmosphere even if it was a little long for my tastes, maybe 20-30 minutes tops if you want to steal.
