So I'm collecting as many splitscreen/local multiplayer games as I can fit into a 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive for my Alienware Alpha i3. Can you guys recommend any of your personal favorites? Preferably, if it's a multi-plat release I'd like to know if it has a PlayStation or Dreamcast version unless the 64 version is the only one with 4-player support. All recommendations from older consoles are always welcome.

What is the retro gaming console with less violent video games, and with a lot more suitable amount of games for all ages and all audiences?
>>2830915
I think your best bet would be the atari 2600 or something because the graphics weren't good enough to realistically represent violent imagery. Most of the games are more abstract with symbols and shit. Pretty much all really old consoles were like this. As graphics evolved video games got much more violent.

Every console has violent and child-friendly games, except shitty "educational" ones.
So /vr/, why is Sonic CD so highly regarded?
The gameplay encourages exploration to get good futures/50 rings to get Time Stones, yet encourages you to gotta go fast.
Who the fuck even wants to go to the bad future or good future other than to listen to music?
Why is the JP/EU soundtrack superior to the American soundtrack? Seriously, the American soundtrack is too tryhard trying to make Eggman seem serious, the rest feels like elevator music I expect to hear at K-Mart.
Then a very disappointing final boss to boot.
Different stokes for different folks, man. It's my favorite Sonic game.
>Awesome soundtracks
>Best special stages of the series
>Very surreal feel and great artwork
>The time travel mechanic is interesting but not pushy - it's not necessary to beat the game as a whole
I understand some people don't like how the levels kind of fuck up the speed, but I think half the fun is figuring out what routes will give you the most...

The bad future is more like a punishment, since there's more enemies than in past or present. You aren't supposed to go to the future without having destroyed the generator in the past.
The good future is there just for fun, I guess. Besides the music, the landscape changes so you can access some sections that were previously blocked (you see those rings stuck into walls on present levels? they are available on good future). Good...

Didn't we just have this thread?

I was unaware of this. I knew we had a couple of threads about why EWJ64 sucked but I missed any other Jim threads.

I loved the first 2 games. Sue me.
I remember these would get great reviews in the gaming magazines back when they were new, but I found the animation to be rather slow in comparison to a street fighter 2 or whatever else from the time... It was an original idea for the time (which was already saturated with other fighter games), so I'll give them that though...

>I remember these would get great reviews in the gaming magazines back when they were new
Really? I remember them getting completely slammed. And rightfully so.

Electronic Gaming Monthly (the only gaming zine they had at the comic shop I was working at at that time) was all on that game's nuts I recall.
Did the ShadowHawk SNES ROM ever finally get leaked?
>>2830092
wait they made a game about ShadowHawk?
>>2830095
Yes... about that very same ShadowHawk character from Image Comics... However, the game got shelved and never released and somewhat recently was rediscovered, but rather than releasing the rom for free the assholes that found it (not the developers nor rightful owners) decided they were only going to sell it on repro carts... So I was curious if this shit finally leaked, because fuck them...
>>2830292
Well then, someone who gets the repro will just upload it.
What did you think of the second disc?
A bad game.
A good Visual Novel.
Great game, probably one of my favorites of all time, i enjoyed the mox of theology, scifi, and philosophy along with political conflict within the story and the gameplay was a great mix of fighting mechanics and rpg ones. second disc never bothered me.

Post some music I can sit down and relax to.
I'll start.

/Vr/, should I beat ff7? I mean, I liked it but I haven't picked it in 6 months. I haven't even beaten what would've been the first disc.
Am I missing out? I was thinking of just starting a new game of FF8 in my free time
>>2828579
Yeah sure. There is a funny scene with cloud in the hospital later.
For fuck sake you don't win street cred for beating videogames. If you don't like it just drop it. In fact the first disc is probably the highlight of the whole game, quality goes downhill afterwards.
I'm still confused why.
>>2828229
Why not?
>>2828230
But why tho.
Games with strong Feminist figures.
I'll start with the obvious.

into the trash this thread goes
>>2828026
Yup.
Anyone here ever play this game? Is it as cheesy and awesome as it looks?
obscure Saturn game thread?

sure
PEBBLE BEACH MOTHERFUCKING GOLF LINKS
>>2827031
that was a major motion picture based on a best selling novel. It's many things but obscure it ain't
So, I'm almost finished with pic related. It was my first final fantasy and it was amazing. Which FF should I play next? I'm thinking either 4, 5, or 9.
Also, retro FF topic I suppose...
Play the classics, then play 7 and onwards.
>>2826568
Go with V or IX. I really like II but it's odd and not everyone digs it.
I and IV are both pretty bad. Both are very straightforward with few interesting decisions to make and the stories aren't enough to keep them compelling.
>>2826568
>It was my first final fantasy and it was amazing.
I'm so happy for you.
It's my favorite, IX is my second favorite, but I guess you could go anywhere for a list of favorites.
Play any of 1-5 you find interesting (you'll hit more than you'll miss) 7,8,9 are good though 8 tends to be seen as a black sheep, beyond is not only not retro but becomes more controversial, it's up to you to continue but it starts to drop off after X.
Anybody remember this PS1 classic? Personally I loved it as a kid. It may have been a Doom clone, but it was a damn good one!
Also, this is the thread for retro Alien and Predator games in general.
>>2826327
I'm surprised that Linn Kurosawa from the Capcom AVP beat 'em up game didn't make any appearances in any of the Capcom crossover fighters. She is an OC of Capcom and not actually from the Alien or Predator films so licensing should not be a problem.
That PS1 (not trilogy) was genuinely scary during the first part of the game
AVP 99 is good
Why did the US version have different music from the JP/EU versions? Copyright reasons? Or were they just really inspired?
Also, which soundtrack did you like better?
>>2825860
Because SOJ sucks big american cock
Spencer Nilsen-sama.
They sampled 90s hip hop tracks and SOA wanted to avoid the risk of a lawsuit.
